Sunday Press Bound for Dartmouth Printing
HANOVER, NH—Dartmouth Printing, a web printer specializing in journal, magazine and catalog production, will install a new nine-unit Goss Sunday 2000 web press in early 2011. Dartmouth is a member of The Sheridan Group, based in Hunt Valley, MD.
The performance of an existing Sunday 2000 system at Dartmouth Printing—including automation, makeready efficiency, low waste and gapless-blanket print quality—was a key factor in selecting the Goss press, according to Jack Elliott, vice president of operations.
"We are replacing older capacity with another advanced Sunday press ideally suited for our specialized, makeready-intensive environment," Elliott said. “We know first-hand that this platform allows us to provide significant cost, quality and versatility advantages for our customers.”
The new nine-unit, two-web Sunday 2000 web offset press will allow Dartmouth operators to produce a wide variety of signatures with up to 32 pages. The system will be equipped with Goss Contiweb splicers, Ecocool dryers, QPL automated plate loading technology and a PCF-1 pinless folder. Goss Omnicon controls will integrate closed-loop systems, as well as advanced presetting, reporting, job storage and remote diagnostics.
