Northeastern Wisconsin Printing Adds Three Heidelberg Machines
KENNESAW, Ga. - January 10, 2018 - Northeastern Wisconsin Printing of Appleton, Wis., recently added a Suprasetter A75 Gen III, a Versafire CV, and a Stahlfolder KH 78/82 all from Heidelberg.
25% Faster Prepress Equipment
After expanding so rapidly that it increased the size of its building twice in the last four years, Northeastern Wisconsin Printing (N.E.W. Printing) needed to add new equipment to their facility to allow for more growth without having to upsize again. Fully equipped with the technology of a high-end machine and the best half-sized platesetter in its class, the addition of a second Suprasetter A75 was the perfect choice to increase production without having to restructure its shop.
“The CtP device is more accurate than our previous equipment,” said Mark Weinfurter, president of Northeastern Wisconsin Printing. “We went from doing 18 plates an hour to doing 22 plates an hour, with the capability to run up to 1,000 plates in a 24 hour shift when we run both A75 Suprasetters. We also don’t expect to break down as much as we did with our previous equipment. The Suprasetter is much more reliable.”
Using the lowest heat output and energy usage in its class, the Suprasetter A75 also makes a huge impact on N.E.W. Printing’s energy output. Additionally, the Suprasetter A75s only requires the pressroom to be below 86° F, so it does not need extra cooling to run.
Unique Capabilities for Customers
With the installation of the new Versafire CV, N.E.W. Printing is able to expand its capabilities, such as printing five colors including white, clear varnish or fluorescent neon yellow or pink. The banner feeder on the digital press allows them to do larger-format digital printing on sheets up to 27.5” in length.
The innovative laser technology on the digital press delivers razor-sharp, high-resolution images and creates consistent sheet-to-sheet color and registration that gives N.E.W Printing a competitive advantage amongst other print shops.
“We needed an upgrade in our digital department,” said Weinfurter. “With the Versafire, we now have better quality, more uptime, and the ability to offer more to our customers.”
The Last Addition to Its Complete Heidelberg Shop
In order to encourage growth, N.E.W. Printing added the Stahlfolder KH 78. Folding signature work up to 16,000 sheets per hour, the Stahlfolder runs 25% faster than its existing continuous feed folders. Makeready times are quicker on the KH 78 due to the operator friendly Interface allowing the operator to not have to move folding stations around for signature work.
N.E.W. Printing is a complete Heidelberg shop with its three new installations running together with Prinect Workflow, another Heidelberg digital press, Printmaster QM 46, Speedmaster SM 74-6, Speedmaster SM 74-8P, and Saphira Consumables.
“Being an all Heidelberg plant is an overall advantage,” said Weinfurter. “Heidelberg simply makes the best equipment, and they have the best supplies made for every specific machine. Everything works together - the prepress, press, and finishing all run together flawlessly.”
