NPC Is New King of GPO Procurement
CHAMBERSBURG, PA—There is a new king in the world of government printing and, appropriately enough, the current top earner for procuring the most work with the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) had to overthrow a Monarch in the process.
Of the more than 1,800 print suppliers that obtained GPO work during fiscal year 2009—October 2008 through September 2009—NPC of Claysburg, PA, received the most work with $29 million in awards. NPC, a.k.a. News Printing, ended the two-year run of Monarch Litho, based in Montebello, CA. Monarch, which finished third with $19.5 million, had topped the GPO list for five of the past six fiscal years. NPC also ended Monarch Litho's three year run by topping the ranks in 2006.
Print suppliers rounding out the top 10 were RR Donnelley of Chicago; Monarch Litho; Gateway Press of Louisville, KY; Sourcelink of Miamisburg, OH; Cenveo of Stamford, CT; Freedom Graphic Systems of Milton, WI; PA Hutchison of Mayfield, PA; Enterprise Group of Discovery Bay, CA; and McDonald & Eudy Printers of Temple Hill, MD.
The value of all GPO work awarded during this period was $425 million compared to $421 million awarded in 2008. Work done by the top 50 suppliers was valued at $270 million during 2009 compared to $287 million in 2008.
The results were furnished by Government Print Management, a division of e-LYNXX Corp., based here.
