Nu Graphics, Etc. Adds HP Indigo and Scitex Printing Solutions
PALO ALTO, CA—March 12, 2009—HP today announced that Nu Graphics, Etc., a Boston-area print service provider (PSP), has enhanced its existing suite of HP Graphics Solutions with the purchase of an HP Scitex FB6100 Flatbed Printer and an HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press, enabling the firm to expand its print production operations and pursue greater profit opportunities.
"As an early adopter of digital printing technology, Nu Graphics has been a pioneer in the industry and continues to be on the forefront of digital with the addition of the HP Scitex FB6100 and HP Indigo 7000," said Jan Riecher, vice president and general manager, Americas Graphics Solutions Business, HP. "By leveraging the versatility and print quality of the HP Graphic Arts portfolio, Nu Graphics is able to deliver a wider range of services to attract new business."
Enhancing large-format capabilities
Complementing the capabilities of Nu Graphics' existing 60-inch HP Designjet 5000 roll-fed large format device, the HP Scitex FB6100 printer opens up a diversity of markets, including high-quality rigid printing applications, such as retail point of purchase (POP), indoor/outdoor advertising, trade and exhibit displays, banners, and billboards, helping Nu Graphics attract new customers as well as expand business with its existing customer base.
"The flexibility and productivity of the HP Scitex FB6100 allows us to compete at a higher level, which will allow us to continue outpacing our competitors and growing our market share," said Wayne Moda, president and partner, Nu Graphics. "By printing direct to rigid substrates, we're saving roughly 20 to 30 percent in production time with the same personnel as before, which keeps costs down and allows us to win a lot of the bigger jobs we previously couldn't support."
Equipped with one of the largest flatbed imaging areas available, the HP Scitex FB6100 Printer delivers impressive print quality with point-of-purchase displays that achieve greater color density and application versatility. Additionally, the printer's fast-drying UV inks offer vivid colors and a wide color gamut, with the printer offering resolutions up to 1,270x800 dpi on both rigid and roll-fed media.
Seizing the opportunity
With the addition of the HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press, Nu Graphics hopes to increase productivity and speed, as customers increasingly rely on the firm's ability to cost-effectively deliver on short-run and variable data marketing programs. The HP Indigo 7000 delivers fast production speeds of 120 four-color A4 (letter size) pages per minute with offset and photo quality. It is optimized to print large numbers of static jobs with run lengths ranging from one copy into the thousands, as well as variable-data work showcasing the "every page is different" capabilities of digital.
"Upgrading to the HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press will enable us to pursue new opportunities and continue to meet our current client demands in the most efficient and cost effective way possible, while remaining competitive across the marketplace," said Moda. "Despite the economic slowdown, we're fortunate we have the business to support making strategic investments to expand our capabilities and drive continued growth."
Since installing its first HP Indigo press in the late 1990s when the firm observed a shift to lower-run, customer-focused printing, Nu Graphics has followed a model of investing in unique printing capabilities and people to create an unmatched suite of capabilities to deliver on its customers' needs and, in turn, build revenue and profit for the company.
Today, Nu Graphics is reaping the rewards of its business model with double-digit revenue growth. Through the Nu Graphics Marketing Services division, the firm is also offering customers e-mail, landing pages, personalized URLs, and web-to-print solutions to complement its digital print programs.
