Océ CS665 Pro Color System with Inline MultiPunch Finishing Cuts Document Binding Time by Half
Latest finishing options increase flexibility and productivity for cutsheet color applications
TRUMBULL, CT—October 12, 2009—Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced it has added five finishing configurations to its Océ CS665 Pro digital color press with the new MultiPunch inline die-punching system.
“Finishing is one of the most time-consuming steps of document production, yet it essential for many booklet applications. With the new MultiPunch configurations, the Océ CS665 Pro system offers a productive, high quality color solution for an array of jobs that require professional binding. Océ customers in corporate printrooms and commercial printshops can maximize the potential of their Océ color systems and exceed the expectations of their own customers through fast delivery and excellent quality,” said Eric de Goeijen, Vice President Marketing, Océ North America Production Printing Systems division.
Highly Productive Professional Binding
The MultiPunch die-punching system automates a key step in binding wire-, VeloBind®-, color coil-, plastic comb- and ring-bound documents such as catalogs, calendars and booklets. The inline process provides die punching for several binding methods in one seamless workflow. This speeds job turnaround, cuts labor costs and decreases the potential for errors. With the Océ CS665 Pro and MultiPunch systems, printers can produce professionally finished documents in approximately half the time it takes to bind documents by hand. Corporate printrooms and commercial printshops can deliver more print products in the same amount of time and with the same staff.
One System with Maximum Finishing Versatility
The MultiPunch is the latest in a series of finishing options for the Océ CS665 Pro system. The Océ CS665 Pro system, launched in 2008, now has eight finishers with 24 configurations. Users can expand the services they offer and capture types of booklet production opportunities.
“One of the reasons printers choose the Océ CS665 Pro system is its versatility,” added De Goeijen. “The MultiPunch system offers die punching for all leading binding methods. So while investing in only one system, printers can offer their customers multiple choices for professionally finished documents.”
The MultiPunch inline punch system supports loose-leaf (ring bind), plastic comb bind, VeloBind and color coil binding options. The system is available in two versions, allowing die punching of letter-size sheets and tabs for the US market or A4-size sheets and matching tab papers for the rest of world. The unit supports media weights from 75 to 216 g/m2. Eight different user-exchangeable A4 dies and six letter-size dies mean printers can produce several punch variations for different binding methods on one Océ CS665 Pro system.
Available in Five Configurations
Systems with the MultiPunch unit will be available in October 2009. The new MultiPunch system is available in combination with the following finishers: 100-sheet staple finisher, multi-folding/punch/post inserting unit, booklet maker, high capacity stacker and perfect binder. Users can easily choose the finishing functionality best suited to their business needs.
All external controllers of the Océ CS665 Pro systems, including Océ PRISMAsync™, EFI® and Creo® models, fully support the MultiPunch system. In addition, optional Océ PRISMAprepare™ document preparation software gives users WYSIWYG views of die-punched documents so they can easily preview and correct documents on screen without interrupting production.
