Olivo's Perfect Printing Installs Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 102-5+L

With a strong history in offset and digital printing, Olivo’s Perfect Printing of Morrestown, N.J., decided to expand into the 40” market to attract new accounts and offer higher volume and larger print size to existing clients. As a long-standing partner of Heidelberg, Olivo’s Perfect Printing chose the Speedmaster CX 102-5+L because of its advanced technology, which gives the company the ability to offer short turnaround times and competitive pricing to customers.

Shorter Makeready Times, Increased Efficiencies

A year after installation, Olivo’s Perfect Printing has increased efficiency drastically — seeing the biggest impact in makeready times. According to Joe Olivo, president of Olivo’s Perfect Printing, “We are definitely seeing at least 30% increase in speed from our previous press. We also have been able to improve our makeready times by at least 5 minutes per each set-up.”

One of the ways shorter makeready times are achieved is with AutoPlate Pro, which is a reliable and fully automatic plate change that controls precise plate feeding and identification for exact and fast registration. During plate changes, the operator can perform other tasks while the plates are being changed. Another technology impacting makeready speed is Prinect Inpress Control 2, which is the industry’s leading inline spectrophotometer that measures and controls color and registers on the fly at any speed – delivering the first measurable result in less than 60 sheets.

“If there’s one technology on the press that sticks out, it’s definitely Inpress Control,” said Olivo. “Inpress Control has really taken some stress off our operators by being able to run consistent color at 16,500 sheets per hour. Our operators no longer have to worry about each sheet being the same because it’s guaranteed with Inpress Control.”

Also equipped with “Push to Stop” technology, jobs are autonomously changed over without operator intervention and continue to print until the operator intervenes. The Push-to-Stop technology is made possible with Prinect workflow in combination with Intellistart 2, a unique integrated software system for effective job preparation, which greatly reduces the number of operating steps during a job change.
