Orora Visual has invested in the HP Indigo 12000 HD at its Dallas Headquarters location in Mesquite, Texas to expand its digital printing capacity and product offerings for retail and horticulture industries.
The Indigo 12000 digital press has the widest digital color gamut, reaching up to 97% of PANTONE colors, by using up to seven ink stations, including white and spot color options. The press features a substantially smaller dot size and excellent offset print quality at 1600dpi which means maximum smoothness on virtually any substrate: coated, uncoated, paperboard, synthetics, canvas, metalized media, and specialty papers.
“We’re especially excited about digitally printing our customer’s short to medium-runs on a wide variety of synthetic materials including vinyl graphics, labels, horticulture plant tags, specialty packaging, and in-store signage that requires higher quality, more up-close viewing, said Jim Blee, VP of Innovation and Design, Orora Visual.
The press also boasts many automated features to increase productivity with print speeds up to 4,600 29” sheets per hour - over 2 million per month. Additionally, it features a laser-guided digital front-end feeding system that enables non-stop printing.
“The larger sheet size allows us to move short to medium-run conventional offset litho work over to the Indigo, reducing turn times, lowering material costs, and increasing our litho capacity for longer-run print production”, said Mike Runyon, Director of Operations at Orora Visual’s Dallas facility. “Additionally, we can enhance our print-on-demand and variable data printing offering to meet our customer’s local marketing initiatives. On a similar note, another beneficial feature is the ability to gang run an entire store kit on press, trim, and pack by location, which in turn expedites the kitting process and improves kit accuracy,” Runyon added.
Orora Visual has also laid the foundation for an additional EFI Vutek HS100 126” large format digital press which brings the total number of Vutek presses to six at this location. Orora operates a total of 14 Vutek presses company-wide — the largest in the country. The Vutek addition means more digital horsepower from its Dallas location to support retail and consumer brand customers’ large-scale in-store campaign roll-outs with unmatched speed to market.
Stay tuned for news regarding Orora Visual’s reconfiguration of its Dallas location for optimal use of space, production efficiencies, additional square footage for large campaign kitting and pack-outs, and a new Creative Collaboration Center to be completed Nov. 2022.
