LAS VEGAS - October 31, 2017 - During the month of October, online printing company Overnight Prints hosted its second annual #SpookMeONP design contest for artists and illustrators for a chance to win free prints along with a feature on Overnight Prints’ blog and social media platforms.
Using the tag #SpookMeONP from Oct. 1-27, contestants submitted original Halloween-inspired artwork through Twitter and Instagram. Drawings and designs showcased the talents of #Inktober and #Drawlloween participants.
Winner Nicole Echeverria is a freelance illustrator and comic artist who submitted her original comics into the art and design competition. Her personal #Inktober challenge was to capture a range of emotions on different characters. The winning design featured Young Pinko, a Japanese character with a suspicious expression.
“I get inspiration from real life like friends or even strangers – the faces and moves they make,” Echeverria shared. “I like bringing things to life by feeling the energy and putting it into a picture or drawing.”
The comic artist’s favorite technique is to use white highlights and shadows to accentuate features and bring depth and dimension to her 2D drawings.
“Even when you’re drawing on a flat piece of paper, the proper technique can help make your art pop off the page and really take form,” said Echeverria.
The long-time Overnight Prints customer prints her business cards and illustration pieces for art shows and other events including 4x6˝ postcards and 16x20˝ posters.
