Ralf Schlozer of InfoTrends agrees with the consensus that we are seeing continual, gradual improvement, and notes that "volume gains reduce costs. Direct mail volume is moving higher." As Figure 2 (above) shows, not only is the installed base growing, but the number of new installations is growing—and at an increasing rate. However, he notes that growth in commercial printing is not as great "because there is less need for personalization."
