No doubt about it – the last few years have been tough to say the least. Embracing the adage “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade,” design studio Christiansen Creative (https://www.think-cc.com/) worked with our friends at Enpointe (https://alwaysenpointe.com/ )to create this vibrant, over-size volume demonstrating the many ways they can help potential clients do the same.
Digitally printed CMYK on Neenah Classic Crest in a variety of colors, the piece grabs your attention right away with this smart cover.
The die-cut “o” in “Lemon” provides a peek at not just 1 but 3 different sheets of various colors inside, urging the reader to open the book immediately to see what’s going on. (But not before running an admiring hand over the slight impression of the Yellow hot foil stamping on the cover, of course.)
With the book’s extra-large 11.5x17-inch size, exploring it feels more like diving into another world than merely flipping pages. The half-sheet glimpsed upon opening is a White one flooded with Red on the front and Yellow on the back. The copy announces the agency’s intentions from the outset – to be positive during trying times – with a stack of 28 words describing their “lemonade moments in an era chock full of irritatingly sour lemons,” all beginning with “c,” including “calm,” “centered,” “charming” and “caffeinated”!
Every page seems to offer a new reason to smile thanks to the use of neon inks, metallic and pearlescent sheets, clever perforations (including one that allows you to punch out a lemon-scented air freshener), and even flocked lemon illustrations!
Interspersed between all this lemony goodness are images of projects the agency has worked on in the past, awards they’ve won, and even full-body photographs of its staff in fun and playful poses.
And if you find an image that really grabs you, you can even tear it out and put it on your wall thanks to helpful perforations! In short, if you’re a potential client, you can’t help but be impressed….which is just what you do with lemons when you want to make lemonade.
