Good morning!
I am not a natural born musician. I do not have a musical ear. But, I really want to learn how to play the guitar. So, I keep showing up to lessons. I keep practicing. Any success I achieve will primarily be due to my perseverance.
Do you want that big fish account? Keep showing up.
Want tighter abs? Keep sitting up.
New to sales and want initial success? Keep making the calls.
Want to win back a lost client? Keep bringing them new ideas.
Perseverance: persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
“Delay in achieving success.”
The problem is, you can't see your progress. Prospects don’t email you saying, “Just two more attempts and I will crack!”
I’ve long believed the guitar gods are preventing me from understanding music theory until I prove to them how much I am willing to work for it.
The sales gods are watching you as well. If you quit going after a prospect, you make their job easier.
Don’t.
Hear this: The primary factor in your success is effort.
So, I will keep playing my Pentatonic Scales. I will keep attempting those challenging barre chords. The guitar gods recently took down one obstacle to my progress, but I want more.
As for you, consider the many challenges you face in all aspects of your life. How many of them are solved through effort?
If you are not a natural-born sales rep, you are not alone. There is a delay in achieving success, but persistence….perseverance…will help you overcome.
