PITTSBURGH—July 19, 2007—The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) is hosting an Educational Summit Meeting at GRAPH EXPO® ’07 in Chicago. The purpose of the Summit Meeting is to present current challenges and possible solutions for those issues that face the graphic arts industry in the areas of education and recruitment. We would like to invite you and others in your organization to attend the Summit Meeting. Speakers are key stakeholders in the areas of education, industry promotion, recruitment, and print production. Each speaker will present their organization’s two greatest challenges and the best solutions to these issues. Our industry has common problems in these critical areas, but it has been addressing them from an individual standpoint. By bringing together principal stakeholders we can begin to develop a unified voice and a more cohesive plan shared by all. The future of the graphic arts industry depends on attracting the best and brightest young people, providing education for them, and then moving them ahead in a career path. Our industry has never been as challenged as we are now to attract talented people.
The Education Summit Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 11 in Room S104 A at McCormick Place. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m.. The Summit Meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will end by 10:00 a.m., in time for the opening of GRAPH EXPO ’07. Raymond J. Prince, of NAPL and PGSF Board Member, will be chairperson. Each speaker will be given five minutes to address the two major challenges and present the solutions from that organization’s perspective. Following the presentations, questions and comments from the audience will be taken. The chairperson will do a summary outline of the common issues and begin to help the group formulate a unified voice. The Summit Meeting will be recorded in order to produce the meeting minutes and a possible podcast or webinar.
The Education Summit Meeting should be a very positive event for the graphic arts industry. In preparing for the meeting there has been tremendous enthusiasm from all those involved. We hope that you will be represented and join other industry leaders in this program. Please RSVP to Bernie Eckert, PGSF Administrator, Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation, 200 Deer Run Road, Sewickley, PA 15143-2600, 412-259-1740, beckert@piagatf.org.
