PGSF, HP, GPA Produce Poster With QR Codes to Attract the Next Generation
PITTSBURGH—October 19, 2015—In an effort to recruit young people into the graphics industry, the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) has released a freshly designed career poster. The launch of the new 17x22" poster, first created by the Education Council in 2006, provides updated statistics on the industry in an attractive and eye-catching manner. It also utilizes QR codes, which not only drive users to sites with more details, but shows the marriage of print and electronic media. The poster is part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to enhance the image of the industry, as well as support the students who are already enrolled in courses for the graphic arts.
The posters will be distributed throughout the U.S., primarily to high schools, technical schools, and community colleges. Printing companies and industry vendors who would like to participate in distributing copies of the poster should contact PGSF to obtain copies of the poster for local distribution. "This represents another key tool for attracting young persons into our industry and increasing our visibility," stated John Berthelsen, vice president of development. "Printers tell us that they are worried about where their future employees are coming from, and this is one way to help get them thinking about graphic arts as a career."
The poster was printed through a partnership with HP and GPA Specialty Substrate Solutions. It was produced on the floor during the recent GRAPH EXPO 15 print show on the HP Indigo 10000 digital press.
