PIA MidAmerica Honors Three Industry Leaders at Annual Awards Gala

DALLAS—May 5, 2014—The Printing & Imaging Association of MidAmerica recognized three industry leaders on April 24, 2014, at the Association’s Annual Kansas City Award Gala held at the American Royal Arena in Kansas City, MO. Over 200 industry professionals were in attendance to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of Joe Cichon, INX International; Saori Miura from DeLaSalle Charter High School; and Dick Johnson with Kingston Press.

Joe Cichon, vice president of manufacturing for INX International was the recipient of the 2014 Gary R. Reniker Environmental, Safety and Health Professional of the Year Award. The award was established in 2005 to honor an EHS professional who has made the printing industry in Missouri and Kansas safer as a result of their efforts. Cichon was recognized for his leadership role in supporting a variety of local and nationwide programs focused on creating a safer work environment in the printing industry.

Saori Miura, the graphic arts instructor for DeLaSalle Charter High School, was recognized as the 2014 Jerry Watson Educator of the Year. This award, created in the memory of Jerry Watson, a legendary Missouri graphic arts instructor, is given to a secondary or post-secondary graphic arts instructor who over the years has shown a dedication to their students and to the industry.

Dick Johnson, president of Kingston Printing in Eudora, KS, was recognized the Kansas City Executive of the Year. Johnson, who is the 62nd recipient of this award, was selected by a committee of his peers who based their decision on his community involvement, as well as his leadership role within the industry and Association.
