PINE Hosts Industry Awards Gala
SOUTHBOROUGH, MA—Nearly 300 leaders from the region’s $12 billion print marketplace gathered recently for the Printing Industries of New England’s (PINE) annual membership banquet to honor numerous individual and company achievements over the past year. Attendees took time to honor an executive who has devoted his career to improving the graphic communications industry, to acknowledge its Awards of Excellence print competition winners, as well as to recognize a dozen printers that have been long-time PINE members.
Benjamin Cooper, a Washington, DC-based lobbyist, was presented PINE’s 2008 Industry Influencer Award for his 30 years of service to the printing industry. Cooper was honored for his work as executive director of The Print Council, for being the organizing force in the Mail Moves America coalition that opposes Do Not Mail legislation, and for his nearly 28 years of service as the chief lobbyist at the national PIA/GATF association.
Finlay Printing, Bloomfield, CT, won Best of Show honors for its self-promotion piece that showcases the company’s ability to use foil in creating eye-catching printed pieces. Overall, 75 Pinnacle Awards (category winners) were presented in the competition. Nearly 50 PINE member companies submitted 325 entries in the competition, and several printers were multiple Pinnacle winners.
Twelve companies were also honored for their continuous membership in the association. Celebrating 50 years of membership are the George H. Dean Co., Braintree, MA; Hanson Printing, Brockton, MA; and Queen City Printers, of Burlington, VT.
Companies honored for 25 years of continuous membership include: Alden-Hauk Inc., Everett, MA; American Printing & Envelope, Auburn, MA; Concepts Unlimited, Acton, MA; Gangi Printing, Somerville, MA; Gateway Graphics, Revere, MA; Minute-Man Printing, Concord, MA; New England Art Publishers, North Abington, MA; Superior Offset Repair & Supply, Saugus, MA; and Travers Printing, Gardner, MA.
In addition, senior execs at the RR Donnelley-Andrews of CT plant received PINE’s Dedication to Education Award for their ongoing commitment to development and continuing education for their employees.
