Pitney Bowes Grows National Network of Presort Services Operating Centers
STAMFORD , Conn. — February 8, 2017 — Pitney Bowes, a global technology company that provides innovative products and solutions to power commerce, has acquired the assets of ProSORT, a Microdynamics company and mailing solutions provider in Naperville, Ill. Pitney Bowes has combined its operation in Des Plaines, Ill., into the newer and larger Naperville facility, growing its client base and market opportunity in the Midwest.
Debbie Pfeiffer, president, Pitney Bowes Presort Services, said, “Market expansion remains a strategic objective for Pitney Bowes Presort Services. It is one of the ways we have continued to grow mail volumes year-after-year despite significant changes in the industry. This acquisition creates new client relationships for Pitney Bowes and strengthens the network of operating centers that our new and existing clients depend on.”
Pitney Bowes is the largest certified work-share partner of the USPS helping high-volume mailers — including financial services firms, insurers, healthcare organizations, and mail service providers — optimize postage spend and manage complex industry regulations.
Operational expertise, innovative technology, a comprehensive national network of more than 30 operating centers, and efficient routing matrices have enabled Pitney Bowes to remain the market leader in this space processing more than 15 billion pieces of mail annually.
“As we expand our national network and grow mail volumes, we’re also expanding the services we provide,” said Pfeiffer. “For example, we’re helping our direct mail clients derive more value from their physical mail pieces by optimizing their messages and offerings for digital channels. And in select markets, we are beginning to offer parcel mailing solutions based on our years of innovation and expertise in mail sortation.”
Helping High-Volume Mailers Adapt to Postal Rate Changes
Pitney Bowes Presort Services is also helping its clients adapt to new postal rate changes that went into effect on January 22. The USPS’s new pricing structure rewards mailers that sort their mail to the finest level. By commingling mail, Pitney Bowes is able to reach greater density and qualify more of its clients’ mail at the five-digit rate. Additionally, mailers that presort their First-Class volume will now be able to send up to 3.5-ounce letters for the same price as a 1-ounce letter (previously same price up to 2-ounce), allowing them to include additional inserts or other pieces with no additional cost.
