Plum Grove Invests in Two New Ricoh Digital Presses to Keep Pace with Demand for Personalization
HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL—August 6, 2014—Plum Grove, a business printer based here, welcomed two digital presses to the printing press floor, a black-and-white Savin 8120 and a color Savin Pro C901. These new digital presses—released by Ricoh earlier this year—represent a major investment by Plum Grove in the most contemporary color and black-and-white digital print technology.
Plum Grove, a marketing services firm, manufactures everything from glossy brochures to custom promotional products to signage and trade show graphics—and one of the areas with most significant growth has been digital printing, especially incorporating variable data printing and one-to-one marketing technology.
“Digital presses can customize a document as it is printed,” explained Plum Grove founder Peter Lineal. “So a mailing for a car dealership can feature a photo of your car in the color you bought it; a mailer from your veterinarian can have a photo of your pet. We can take a mass mailing and automate personalization that will engage prospects.”
The black-and-white Savin 8120 copier offers production efficiencies to Plum Grove which eases deadlines on large jobs and lower digital printing costs. The press prints in ultra-high-resolution 1,200x4,800 dpi on a range of paper media. The copier prints quickly (up to 135-pages-per-minute), and is engineered to work long hours with minimal downtime. The Savin 8120's speed and reliability means faster turn-around time for clients.
The full-color Savin Pro C901 offers advanced color copying, scanning, and media handling. The color copier prints at 1,200x1,200 dpi, with full bindery options for booklet printing. The color clarity and sharpness of the 901 are comparable to many of the finest traditional offset presses; excellent color control protects corporate colors and branding.
Plum Grove purchased the new digital presses as an infrastructure investment after a banner business year. The printer acquired large corporate clients, launched a wide-format signs printing division, and was recognized as a Top 50 printer. With 36 percent growth in 2013, Plum Grove was the 5th fastest-growing printer in America. Acquiring the new copiers signals that the firm intends to stay at the forefront of the business printing industry.
“Our new digital presses are among the finest models made, and we're delighted to give these powerful tools to our clients,” concluded Lineal.
