MANCHESTER, U.K.—March 26, 2012—PragmatIC Printing, a pioneer in imprinted logic circuits, announced collaborations with a range of companies that together provide all the key technology elements for complete printed electronics products aimed at the consumer, security and novelty markets.
These partnerships align with the collaborative PragmatIC Pilot Production Program (P4), announced in January, which will enable a complete supply chain for brand owners and other end users wishing to roll out commercial solutions within the next 12 months.
• Printed Electronics Ltd. (PEL) is an integrator using optimised printing of conductive and dielectric inks to enable flexible interconnection circuitry.
• Enfucell Ltd supplies printed batteries allowing independent powering of printed electronics circuits in a thin, flexible, environmentally friendly format.
• Innovia Films Ltd offers a range of speciality films, such as biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) for labelling of consumer goods.
• DuPont Teijin Films Ltd offers a variety of polyester substrates suitable for printed electronics, including label films and ISO-format cards.
As part of the relationship, PragmatIC Printing, PEL and Enfucell have together developed an integrated printed electronics concept in business card format, representative of the form and function being explored by a number of customers for interactive print media as well as promotion of consumer goods brands.
PragmatIC Printing has also previously completed prototype concepts with Innovia Films (interactive lighted labels for beverage bottles) and DuPont Teijin Films (wirelessly-powered interactive labels, in conjunction with De La Rue plc).
Scott White, CEO of PragmatIC Printing, stated, “I am pleased to welcome these companies into our P4 initiative. This collaboration between mutually complementary technology solutions is representative of the growing maturity of the printed electronics industry, and will provide strong support for our customers in moving towards commercial deployment.”
About PragmatIC Printing
PragmatIC Printing offers logic circuits that introduce intelligence and interactivity into a wide range of products and applications, in form factors that are not possible using silicon chips. In 2010, PragmatIC acquired the printed electronics business of Nano ePrint Ltd, including its patented technology for planar nano-electronic devices that can uniquely be fabricated in a single semiconductor layer via single-step imprint patterning. PragmatIC has extended this proven imprinting process to allow a full range of device and circuit architectures to be printed in transparent, flexible semiconductors at micron and sub- micron scale.
