Worker Suffers Hand Injury at NJ Printer

FREEHOLD, NJ—A pressroom worker at the Asbury Park Press printing plant here suffered a hand injury Thursday afternoon and was taken to a local hospital, the newspaper reported. Joe Gaire, 52, said he reached up "to grab something" and got his hand caught between the roller and cylinder of a press that was being prepped for a job.
According to Tom Merkel, assistant press foreman, the victim was taken to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold following the incident, which occurred around 4:45 p.m. Gaire was undergoing treatment Thursday night and an update on his condition was not available, according to the Asbury Park Press.
