Presstek 52DI Fits the Bill for Catawba Print & Mail

Hickory, NC—6/18/07—Looking to expand its printing services, Catawba was attracted to the Presstek 52DI, due to its high level of automation, 300 lpi printing and 52cm format, making it ideal for the fast turnaround work that is the company’s bread and butter. Catawba Print & Mail only recently added “Print” to its name. The firm has a lettershop heritage and has historically worked jointly with printers on mailing projects.

“We print thousands of 4”x6” postcards that are messaged and addressed using our inkjetting equipment,” says owner L.F. As printers increasingly offered mailing services, the company had added digital printing, leveraging its knowledge of variable data and thereby offering a turnkey print/mail package to its mailing customers. However, Catawba quickly found that it was not cost effective to print static pieces on its digital press. The Presstek 52DI fit the bill for Catawba without the complexity and space requirements of conventional offset and platemaking.
