HUDSON, N.H. — September 28, 2016 — Presstek LLC, a provider of eco-friendly printing solutions for commercial and newspaper printers, announced that it displayed a comprehensive array of chemistry-free CTP options at Graph Expo 2016.
The Presstek booth (# 2731) showcased plate and device offerings to cover the eco-friendly requirements of any CTP printer operating in North America today. Key exhibits in the range included the GemPlate and Nytro CTP plates, being imaged live at the show, and the new Dimension Pro2 thermal CTP system.
Rated for 250,000 impressions, the chemistry-free GemPlate offers the most streamlined Presstek platemaking solution for offset presses. Imaging on standard 830 nm platemakers at resolutions up to 200 lpi, it “processes” on press, without any need to preheat or rinse. The press fountain solution and ink remove the plate’s unexposed areas, to give a polymerized, hardened, exposed ink-receptive image area. Eliminating all requirement for processor hardware, chemistry or maintenance, GemPlate reduces the costs associated with platemaking and ensures a faster turnaround. Negative working, it is designed for sheetfed, heatset and coldset web offset, and UV applications.
Also for sheetfed, web and UV applications, Nytro is a thermal CTP plate offering high-quality options for increased durability versus time to press. Negative working and imaging on standard 830 nm platemakers at resolutions up to 300 lpi, Nytro needs no preheating for jobs with a run-length of 200,000 impressions or less. For longer run requirements, preheating will guarantee up to 300,000 impressions, whereas preheating and post-baking secures high-detail, sharp results for up to 1 million impressions and more.
Engineered to meet the varying needs of small, medium and large printers, the Dimension Pro2 is an 830 nm thermal CTP system. Four- and eight-page formats with manual (M) or semi-automatic (A) plate loading offer a range of production speeds to cater to individual requirements: 16-34 four-page plates per hour with the Dimension Pro2 M4 and A4; 16-28 eight-page plates per hour from the Dimension Pro2 M8 and A8. Built for reliable, round-the-clock operation, all systems feature individually-powered laser diodes that deliver 10,000 imaging hours while a robust plate clamp design means that clamps are last up to 100,000 applications, around five times longer than competitor models.
“In addition to its impressive build quality and design features, the Dimension Pro2 comes with a two-year parts warranty, which means that even the smallest printer can benefit from eco-friendly CTP risk-free,” comments Ralph Jenkins, worldwide sales and marketing director, Presstek. “With this and our range of CTP plates, Graph Expo 2016 is the ideal venue for print providers to learn how they can satisfy their own ambitions for environmental responsibility while continuing to meet growing demands for high-quality and fast turnaround printing.”
