Primary Color Boosts Short-run Demand with New HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press
EL SEGUNDO, CA—February 18, 2014—Primary Color, a California-based visual solutions company, has expanded its digital printing capacity with the installation of an HP Indigo 10000 digital press.
The company, which also operates an HP Indigo 7600 digital press, needed to expand its digital printing capabilities to meet increased demand for shorter, personalized print runs with accelerated production time. Primary Color chose the HP Indigo 10000 digital press to take advantage of the 29" format, which enables more efficient fulfillment of existing orders while also providing new possibilities for oversized projects, including presentation materials and highly-customized brochures.
The new digital press is integrated with our Marketing Asset Management software platform, which seamlessly connects the client’s branded storefront and Web-based print-on-demand capabilities. Variable data printing and print-on-demand products are now expanded to include marketing materials such as customized packaging, gatefold brochures, posters, pocket folders and any piece that needs a paper size of 20.9 x29.5".
“We have developed a full range of high-quality print technologies, including the largest, most robust presses across all print categories, which enables us to meet any customer demand,” said Ron Hirt, co-founder and executive vice president of sales and marketing, Primary Color. “The HP Indigo 10000 is a perfect fit for us—we believe it is the highest quality, widest-format sheetfed digital press on the market. The press helps our company to unlock tremendous opportunities to apply the benefits of digital and variable data to more product offerings.”

Opening doors for customers
The full-service team at Primary Color receives many requests from clients asking for customized cross-media campaigns that need to adhere to strict brand guidelines, including color consistency. Featuring HP ElectroInk technology, the HP Indigo 10000 digital press seamlessly integrates into Primary Color’s color management system to ensure color consistency across any substrate or application.
Primary Color has also pioneered a proprietary ink set that features an expanded color gamut and offers clients a hi-saturation reproduction option for their printed material. The HP ElectroInk technology fully supports this printing process.
The HP Indigo 10000 digital press also enables Primary Color’s product specialists to work alongside clients to create mock-ups and sample pieces that push the limits of traditional print and showcase their creativity in real-time.
“Print remains an important communication tool that can create a beautiful, tactile and engaging experience,” noted Hirt. “We utilize all of the intelligence we have across our company to help our customers differentiate themselves when marketing their products and from the electronic marketing world. The HP Indigo 10000 digital press opens doors to clients, allowing them to be more creative and test projects on the digital format, which costs less than long-runs on litho machines.”
