Creo, a subsidiary of Kodak, will display Synapse EyeMedia software. This digital asset management system integrates with the Prinergy workflow management system and the Synapse InSite Internet portal into prepress. Creo will also feature digital print connectivity, along with Prinergy 3.0, Prinergy Evo 1.2 and Profile Wizard Mio 3.1 color management software. An extensive MIS solution will be launched this fall.
Enovation, a Fujifilm company, will feature the FinalProof GxT with digital halftone proofing technology. With true halftone dot screening, FinalProof expands by imaging dot percentages of CMYK and spot color donors for accurate spot color matching. With newly released metallic and opaque white donors, it is able to laminate to a variety of substrates.
“THE System” from CRC Information Systems is a fully integrated information management system that encompasses every aspect of graphic arts business management, utilizing the Windows 2000/2003 and SQL Server 2000 platforms. The software addresses the requirements of commercial printers from estimating, production and inventory management to accounting and e-commerce.
Magnum Magnetics manufactures white, printable magnetic sheeting for desktop and wide-format ink-jet printers. Choose from DIGIMAG paper for dye- and pigment-based ink-jet printers or DIGIMAG vinyl for solvent ink-jet printers.
Keene Technology will introduce the LS series splicer, which eliminates the downtime and waste associated with roll changes. Two roll positions with fully automatic splicing capabilities continuously unwind a web directly into the press line, eliminating the need to stop for roll changes.
Quite Software will be exhibiting the new features of its Acrobat plug-in, Quite Imposing Plus. Automation has been added using the steps stored within the PDF file, as XML, and playing them back on any other PDF. In turn, the first imposed file becomes an example for future ones.
Collins Ink will offer black and color ink-jet inks featuring water- and solvent-based continuous and thermal technologies and oil- and solvent-based Piezo/DOD technology. Water- and solvent-based products include low cost KV inks, MEK-free VJ inks, UV curing inks for plastics (MAX ink) and Heads-up inks. Oil- and solvent-based products include UV curing and process colors.
Streamfeeder will introduce the Servo series high-speed feeder/dispenser, which reduces manual labor for batch counting, collating, accumulating, automatic wrapping, kit fulfillment and package inserting. Features toolless, single-knob adjustments and flexibility for use in high-speed standalone applications or integration into other systems.
FlightCheck Studio, from Markzware, watches over jobs from the very start by allowing users to customize document output specifications, and alerts when an item does not fit the original choices. No more incorrect color models, RGB images or any surprises.
With more than 250 enhancements, Dialogue v5, from Exstream Software, includes the browser-based Dialogue Anywhere for Marketing, a new design interface, Quark import/export, three new data connectors, PowerPoint output and an advanced testing suite.
Polymag Tek will display its oscillating six-roll web cleaner with clam shell and tape drawer slide; its two-sided, four-roll web cleaner; its three-roll sheet cleaner; and its two-roll narrow web cleaner, along with its hand rollers, tacky pads and adhesive tape rolls.
Cyrious Control, from Cyrious Software, is an estimating and business management software system tailored to commercial printers. Features allow for automatic e-mailing, faxing or scheduling of follow-up calls when an estimate, order or invoice is created.
NUR America/NUR Macroprinters is showing modular configurations of the NUR Tempo wide-format, flatbed UV-ink-jet presses, which print color graphics on wide-format rigid or flexible media at speeds up to 1,300 sq. ft./hr. and at resolutions up to 720 dpi. Optional white ink, custom spot colors and selective varnish.
In conjunction with Kern, PEAK Technologies will show the 8300 series roll unwinder, 8400 series automated folder and 8700 series forms transfer system.
Heidelberg will feature the Speedmaster XL 105, the first sheetfed press in a new “maximum performance class.” The 105 offers fast makereadies, high production speeds and printing quality. The press achieves a maximum speed of 18,000 sph, enabling cost-effective production of industrialized offset jobs.
Komori America will exhibit a 10-color (5/5) Lithrone S40 perfector. The LS1040P incorporates all of the features of the Lithrone S40 series and includes a double size, three cylinder perfecting mechanism. The perfector transfers the sheet entirely stress-free, and air controls plus ceramic jackets on the last five impression cylinders assist in mark-free passage of the reversed sheet through to the delivery.
Valco Cincinnati’s Robond PRO is a microprocessor-controlled fluid application system for fine-line gluing and precision fold softening. Features include automatic fluid flow control, motorized remote valve positioning and contact nozzles for reduced web friction and clogging. It is controlled by a touchscreen operator terminal.
Mohawk Papers will introduce i-Tone uncoated paper for HP Indigo printers. The process is the result of a collaboration between Mohawk and Nalco. Developed specifically for HP Indigo presses, i-Tone has been applied to Mohawk Superfine and Mohawk 50/10, bringing higher performance to a new generation of printers.
RB/SUN Enterprises will present the four-up, 10-up and 12-up business card slitters along with the Handi-Scor scoring and perforating machine. Also available is the gutter cut machine for cutting full-bleed cards.
The PerforMAX 3, from SIMCO Industrial Static Control, is a high speed, extended range static neutralizing system with performance monitoring. Systems have remote monitoring and control of ionization performance, clean bar indicators, system fault indicators and remote on/off control capability. Computer interface options and hazardous location systems are also available.
W-R Industries will be displaying its complete line of 5 Star Overprint varnishes and gloss ink train coatings. These products are designed to provide protection and excellence in gloss or dulling characteristics.
The Off-line Electronic Drive Combination Unit, from Advanced Graphics Equipment of York, is capable of unwinding the roll, guiding the web, slit and cut single or multiple thickness webs to produce streams with accurate cutting registration and batch into neatly jogged vertical batches with chipboard inserter top and/or bottom or in sets in-between and deliver them to auxiliary wrapping or boxing equipment.
hhs America will introduce the Xtend product line for glue application control and quality assurance systems, which range from standalone glue controllers to fully integrated quality assurance lines. Features include problem indication for any carton rejection and a visual dialogue for the setup of new products.
JetPlate Systems plans to release the JetPlate 4800 with advancements in its ink-jet CTP technology, featuring a processor, platemaker, screening, RIP and proofer. JetPlate will be making plates and printing live press sheets at the show.
Lassco-Wizer will feature the Spinnit hydraulic paper drill HL-3. The drill bit height is adjusted with a simple turn of a knob on top of the machine and offers a 2.5˝ drilling capacity with a 1-hp spindle motor.
Glunz & Jensen will introduce ink-jet CTP (iCtP) technology with the PlateWriter 4200. The system produces press-ready aluminum plates without chemical processing by jetting a patented Liquid Dot solution onto a non-photosensitive aluminum printing plate. The imaged plates are then fed through a plate-finishing unit located below the imaging engine that dries the plates and bonds the liquid dots to the plate surface.
Morgana Systems will showcase a range of its solutions to the problems of finishing digital output. Creasers, folders, bookletmakers and cutters will all be on display, as well as the Morgana DigiFold, which provides creasing and folding in a single unit and uses patented technologies specially developed for the digital market.
Rena Systems provides EasyInk AqueousT for HP-based ink-jets. Up to now, materials that use aqueous coatings could not be addressed with standard ink-jets. With the EasyInk AqueousT, most coated materials are as easy to use as regular paper.
Renz will offer the WP300 with Wire Pack, which consists of wire elements on a perforated sheet of recycled paper. The WP300 accepts sheets of the Wire Pack, removes the element from the sheet and presents it onto a holder for wire binding of pre-punched books. By adding an ECL360 electric wire closer, a semi-automatic wire inserting system can be created.
Jalema will offer its blueprint/map storage system. Hanging clamps, self-adhesive strips and staple strips are available for blueprints, drawings, maps and other large-format documents. Together with Grafi-System hardware, this system allows for triple capacity in a given area when compared to flat file cabinets.
Mutoh will introduce the Toucan LT, which increases production and profits by tackling large jobs overnight. Equipped with a heavy-duty feed system, the Toucan LT is designed to accommodate 220 pounds of media, is available in Eco-Solvent Plus ink or LT Solvent ink, and boasts print speeds of 398 sq. ft./hr. With resolutions up to 1,440 dpi, it’s available in 64˝ or 87˝.
Busch Inc. provides a wide range of vacuum pumps and systems to the printing industry. The Merlin claw-type, dry, non-contacting combination pressure/vacuum pump offers a high tolerance to paper dust and a low cost of ownership.
Goss International will showcase its automatic transfer option for non-stop web printing. The technology reduces waste and creates short-run opportunities by enabling version changes or complete, four-color job changeovers without stopping the press for a conventional makeready. The on-the-run print transfer capability is available on Goss Sunday presses.
Vecoplan’s line of paper shredders provide dump-and-run operation without the need for guillotines or floor sweeps. Ideal for baler preparation, the shredders are easily integrated into existing processing systems such as pneumatic material handling systems and are ideal for web or sheetfed operations.
The four-color TruePress 344 digital offset press, from Screen (USA), has a maximum sheet size of 13.4x18.5˝ and a maximum imaging area of 13x18.1˝. It utilizes a thermal multi-array laser diode imaging system and a new processless plate. All four plates are exposed simultaneously. With a print speed of 7,000 sph, it can produce a 500-sheet single-sided job in less than 15 minutes.
Master Flo Technology will introduce a mobile high-speed in-line quarter folder, the HQF-18. The folder was developed by Lovaghy Enterprise for quarter folding directly in-line with a web press.
BCC Software offers NEWLEAF, a robust VDP composition tool. The program’s WYSIWYG interface lets users control placement of graphic and text components. It features Data Source Wizard, which links databases to the design palette, and is compatible with most industry-standard high-speed laser printers.
Lamitek will display the Thermal Pouch Laminator, a 9x13˝ laminator designed for photo lamination with a package of small laminating pouches, including photo sizes, called Value Pack.
The Executive AV (Added Versatility) and the Executive DC (Die Cut) envelopes from MeadWestvaco provide an envelope for automated production mail and small office inserting operations to maximize application productivity and efficiency. The envelopes were developed in conjunction with several U.S.- and European-based inserting manufacturers.
Satori Software will introduce Bulk Mailer 5, a mail list software. It includes importing, duplication elimination, address cleansing and postal presorting. Also features advanced graphics, wizard-based processes, reusable template architecture, move update processing, graphical label designer providing full graphics and bar coding.
Sage Automation’s Bundle Unitizer has a small footprint and is capable of stacking up to 20 bundles/minute. Loose or tied bundles, either flat or tapered, can be stacked in a variety of patterns.
4-Over Inc. will introduce the Silver PMS 877 Finish as a five-color, no setup and washup fees. Silver Finish business cards and postcards will be available in 14-pt. and 16-pt. C2Scard stock with UV finish on color sides.
Innolutions will introduce on-press BCC Barless Closed Loop Color Control. Measure and maintain color by directly scanning the print without the need of a color bar. Uses existing ink fountains and includes CIP3 fountain presetting.
McPhersons will offer the latest trends in wedding stationery, seal’n sends, sep’n sends and laser compatible papers in traditional and contemporary designs. Wraps, embellishments, accessories and personalized napkins are also available.
Quark will debut QuarkXPress 7. Packed with expert transparency tools, Unicode and Open Type support and collaboration and interoperability based on open standards such as JDF, PDF-X and PPML, QuarkXPress 7 will transform creative communications.
Prisco will highlight three non-corrosive fountain solution concentrates. Questar CTP CR-1S is a one-step highly buffered formula primarily for sheetfed printing. Webfount 225E is ideal for high-speed heatset web presses with continuous dampening systems. Webfount 225A is a version for highly alkaline water. Webfount 115E is for coldset web printing and heatset presses with brush dampening systems.
The next generation design of Innotech Equipment’s INNOFORMER, the geometric air bar plow eliminates adjustments needed by rotary plows, thereby speeding makeready and increasing productivity. Locate before the folder to increase range of products produced or locate before gap cutting sheeter to produce multi-folded and trimmed direct mail pieces.
Sakurai will introduce a new high-speed, fully automated, 20x26˝ four-color convertible perfector. The 466SD/SDP runs at 16,000 iph. Standard features include automatic perfecting changeover, automatic plate changers, automatic blanket and roller washers, a Sakurai auto set sheet preset device, and double diameter impression and transfer cylinders.
The StitchFold bookletmaker and trimmer system, from MBM Corp., uses wire-fed stitching technology. With a sheet capacity of 25, the StitchFold can saddlestitch and trim 2,300 sets/hour. The system provides lower operating costs than bookletmakers using preformed staples, as 65,000 booklets can be produced from a single spool of wire.
Hewlett-Packard will focus on open standards and end-to-end workflows that highlight the entire family of HP Indigo digital presses including the HP Indigo press 5000, with new applications that can only be produced digitally using liquid HP ElectroInk. Featured in the Wide Format Pavilion will be HP Designjet printers, media and HP Vivera inks in applications such as remote proofing, graphic design and professional photography.
American Moistening Co. (AMCO) controls the relative humidity in printing plants to prevent curling, clinging and other expensive production problems. Dust and electricity are also greatly reduced, improving productivity and preventing trip-offs. Generally, these systems reportedly return the investment in one season.
Creative Suite from ImageDJ is developed for design professionals to locate images instantly, effortlessly and cost-effectively. This suite contains photography, illustrations, synthetic designs and composite layered imagery. The program covers 30 subjects, including business, technology, biochemistry, food and scenery.
Airesys Inc. will offer Version 4.3 of its Intraprint MIS system. Based on an optimized estimating backbone, Intraprint is complemented by 14 integrated print management software modules, handling CRM management, production planning, scheduling, job tracking, invoicing, accounting and e-commerce.
GRAFIX LLC’s Hybrid UV applies high gloss UV coatings in-line and allows for the flexibility to move between acrylic coating jobs and UV coating jobs with ease. No special roller compounds, special blankets or fountain solution chemistry. Complete cure of inks and coatings equals immediate downstream processing or second side printing.
The Presstek Vector TX52 chemistry-free platesetter provides the small-format printer with a metal platemaking solution. The system is designed for maximum ease-of-use to streamline the entire platemaking operation while delivering the speed, quality and performance required to meet customer demands. Its compact size and daylight-safe operation allow this unit to fit into any shop.
Buhrs Americas will demo the BB300 envelope inserting system, a reliable, economic and efficient inserter for the mailing service industry. Heavy-duty construction and flexible configuration. System performance has been increased by 25 percent to 10,000 cph and a packing thickness up to 15mm.
The Duplo System 5000 collating and bookletmaking solution, from Duplo USA, now offers the 2KT head & foot trimmer. The versatile System 5000 with 2KT is an affordable unit.
Environmental Specialties will introduce an effect coating called Profile UV. The use of this coating in conjunction with a spot coating plate can achieve a raised profile over the coated areas. It is available in gloss or matte.
Standard Horizon will feature the Horizon i2i system, a CIP4/JDF-enabled digital workflow. The i2i system will ingest JDF file data to drive a network of finishing solutions that includes floor-model folders, perfect binders, collators, bookletmakers and saddlestitchers. The system offers bar-coded tickets, job record data, automated machine setup and the ability to monitor job status of i2i-connected machines.
Brandtjen & Kluge will exhibit its latest automatic folder/gluer, the OmniFold. The OmniFold offers right and/or left sheet registration, rack-and-pinion elevator-driven feeding section and vertical buckle folder. The OmniFold is modular, allowing users to expand the machine’s capabilities as needed.
Blue Glass anti-marking film is the latest addition to the PRI Technologies family of products. Its micro-bead technology is ideal for coating applications where marking can be a problem. When used in conjunction with Super Blue 2 anti-marking, anti-static systems it helps eliminate marking problems throughout the entire press.
The VPI/SP Vertical Soft-Proofing Station, from GTI Graphic Technology, is a D50 viewing system that provides accurate viewing conditions for hard copy to soft-proof comparisons. The unit accommodates a computer and monitor with variable intensity for optimal match to monitor. Includes side walls for control of ambient light, and the LiteGuard II viewing system monitor to track lamp hour usage.
Technifold USA will introduce the TCM20, geared for short- to medium-run offset and digital print shops. This tabletop creasing solution uses Tri-Creaser technology to eliminate fiber cracking on any type of digitally or traditionally printed paper by producing a letterpress-quality crease. The TCM20 will run sheets up to 20˝, has a near-zero setup time and uses a handfed design to minimize waste.
ILF Technologies’ geometric air loaded in-line folder improves product quality and reduces waste. Combined with the ILF M2-XTC cover/insert system, short-run coated covers are produced with reduced makeready, cracking and scuffing. The G.O. Prefolder helps coldset insert printers reduce web breaks and marking.
Epic Products will display the Model CTi-635 in-line coating system for the Xerox iGen3 press, which uses Xerox DFA architecture and will apply UV or aqueous coatings. The system can also be retrofitted to the tower coater on any offset press, replacing roller metering with an anilox system, or custom-manufactured as a blanket coater for presses that have no coating capability.
Prepress Training Solution will spotlight a guest expert Tips & Tricks session. The course showcases OS X Tiger, Adobe Creative Suite 2 and Adobe Bridge training, and topic-focused courses on soft proofing in desktop applications and troubleshooting digital files.
StopStatic.com, a division of Alpha Innovation, will announce ionWire, which offers the convenience of a small wire with the anti-static ionizing ability of an effective static eliminator. This allows printers to place the ionWire under sheets and webs where static eliminators often cannot fit.
Enfocus Software’s entire PDF quality control product line, including PitStop Professional, includes core Certified PDF technology and is Acrobat 7/PDF 1.6 compatible. Enfocus gives designers, printers and publishers tools like Certified PDF to create and exchange PDFs.
The Baum 26˝ and 30˝ wider-format folders offer high productivity and trouble-free operation. Available with eight-page and 16-page right angle units and the Baum K20 knife folder, which increase flexibility. The reverse-drive continuous feeder provides longer production runs with a maximum folder speed of 9,000 ipm.
Nordson Corp. will introduce the QuadCure QCi lamp head, which combines high UV output with heat reduction technology resulting in effective drying across a range of printing and industrial applications and substrates. The QuadCure QCi offers reflector geometry for intense and focused UV. This provides total cure of high-pigmented inks and coatings, with little scatter.
The Epson Stylus Pro 7800 and 9800, 24˝ and 44˝, respectively, incorporate forward-thinking designs with new eight-color ink technology. Each solution features Epson UltraChrome K3 ink. K3 ink incorporates eight color pigments, including a new three-level black technology, for professional color and black-and-white prints.
Nita Inc. offers a line of finished products to fully automate any prepress line. Equipment roster includes manual and pneumatic punches, in-line punches for platesetters, manual, pneumatic and automatic in-line plate benders, plate shears, multiple formats, conveyors, plate rotators and plate shifters, bridges and prepress automation, and horizontal and vertical plate stackers.
Kirk-Rudy will introduce the KR 950, which combines PLC and servo-motor technology into a versatile, high-speed unit. The KR 950 offers several capabilities such as handling a wide product range—4.5x6˝ up to 18x18˝—and the ability to configure it to discharge stacks right, left or straight through.
Martin Automatic introduces the MBNT automatic butt splicer. The splicer is optimized for narrow web presses and features Martin’s patented rolling shear splicing system.
Secap’s Jet 1 is a solution for printers considering mailing services. The Jet 1 is a fully integrated address and barcode printing system. Print configurations of 3˝, 4.5˝ or 6˝ with production speeds up to 30,000 per hour. Optional accessories include feeders, tabbers, dryers and mail pre-sorting conveyors.
Ga-Vehren Engineering manufactures finishing equipment for the direct mail, promotional printing and contract packaging markets. Ga-Vehren machine applications include feeding, gluing, attaching, imaging, data logging and matching, inserting, folding, batch counting and windowing.
Maestrale North America will introduce Maestro thermal CTP platesetters and Maestro violet CTP platesetters. Both are external drum, manual or fully automated configurations, two-up, four-up and eight-up. Either can be converted to the other laser in the field. Optional online punch. Small footprint and low maintenance costs.
HumanEyes Technologies plans to show its special effects software/lenticular portfolio for litho and DI printers, creatives and professional photographers with its distributor, xpedx. Generates effects such as high quality flip and morph, as well as natural 3D using various, existing printing technologies.
RIPit Computer will introduce its CTP configuration and show its newest SpeedSetter violet metal CTP and Symphony workflow solutions for small- and mid-sized printers.
DiMS! organizing print will introduce the mobile e-commerce extension, DiMS! release 650. The software, designed to run on cell phones and PDAs, enables real-time communication back to the central DiMS! MIS in order to see such internal information as available capacity, inventory, including releases, and order status.
Island Clean Air will introduce the Fume Pro Adapter, which converts any Duster 2000FC into a dual-function source capture and ambient air filtration unit. The unit offers easy installation and is functional with most wide-format solvent ink-jet printers and dryers.
MEGTEC will display the DLC 5000 splicer with 60˝ roll diameter capacity and a maximum production speed of 3,540 fpm. Designed for ultra-wide commercial presses, features include fewer splices for manpower reduction on presses, combined with reduced annual materials costs from lower paper waste and consumption of splicing tape.
Gateway Bookbinding Systems will showcase the PLASTIKOIL Concept QS2 dual interline system for the manufacturing and automated insertion of plastic spiral binding. The system, with the 3000 QS quick setup auto coil inserters, allows for quick book binding. The units can interline or be detached for independent production and produces at rates of 1,400 books per hour, with coil diameters from 6mm to 30mm.
Mitsubishi Lithographic Presses will showcase the Diamond 3000TP Tandem Perfector. The 40˝ perfector prints both sides of the sheet in one pass at 13,000 sph without turning the sheet. The gripper is maintained throughout the run. The press is available with up to 12 printing units and has a stock range of .0016˝ to .024˝ for standard printing or .008˝ to .032˝ for folding carton applications.
Ryobi/xpedx Import Group will introduce the Ryobi 3404X-DI (UV), a four-color, 13.375x18.125˝ digital imaging portrait press with UV capabilities. The group will also spotlight the Ryobi 524HE, a four-color, 14x20˝ press; Ryobi 524GXP, a four-color or 2/2 14x20˝ press; Ryobi 755XL-E, a five-color, 23x29˝ with UV board press; and the Ryobi 758P (S-Type), a 23x29˝ eight-color 4/4 perfector.
The PRIME Optimal NEWS UV curing system, from Prime UV, allows coldset web and newspaper printers to expand their product lines by printing four-color inserts, catalogs and covers on coated papers, supercalendered stocks and newsprint. The system is a green technology that eliminates VOCs and installs on all new and existing coldset/newspaper presses.
Advance Printers Machine Shop offers a full machine shop for the graphic arts trade, nylon rollers, manufacture roller cores, rechrome rollers, welding, cylinder repairs, rebuild ink fountain blades and three-piece rollers for KBA, Heidelberg and MAN Roland presses.
Gämmerler will introduce the KL 6000 and STC 700 compensating stackers, the SV 500 and SH 080 vertical and horizontal log stackers, the FS 260 custody conveying system, the PL 500 log palletizer and the RS 114 and RS 164 rotary trimmers. To demonstrate the equipment’s capabilities, the RS 114 trimmer, KL 6000 stacker and FS 260 overhead system will form a fully functioning postpress line.
Jetrion will launch low-VOC solvent inks for Videojet and Domino continuous ink-jet printers. Printers who use the new Jetrion inks can decrease VOCs, enabling operation expansion while remaining within VOC emissions limits. Jetrion’s low-VOC solvent CIJ inks offer reliability and performance at a lower price.
The Metafix CTP-pH control system, from Metafix Inc., manages, monitors and discharges all types of CTP plate effluent on-site. The system collects, measures and neutralizes the pH levels of CTP-effluent using a neutralizing agent, MetaAid. Each site is tracked in the MetaTrax database for full automation.
xpedx will introduce disaster recovery/business continuance services that will allow commercial printers to remotely back up or restore their data to or from anywhere in the world. xpedx also will spotlight HumanEyes 3D imaging software that allows commercial or wide-format printers to create 3D and lenticular effects using existing equipment.
Xerox plans to introduce the DocuColor 7000, a 70 ppm digital press. Xerox’s FreeFlow Output Manager software centralizes print management by acting as a “traffic controller.” Output Manager is designed to manage the flow of print jobs to the most appropriate networked print device. Xerox has also enhanced its iGen3 110 digital production press with an in-line coater, the Epic Cti-635 from Epic International, which gives documents a glossy or matte finish.
KBA North America will feature the 41˝ Rapida 105 sheetfed press. Also featured is print stock from 48-lb. paper to 48-pt. board with no gripper adjustments; the new Qualitronic II in-line sheet inspection system; video register; Densitronic closed-loop color control and ink temperature control.
Agfa will show the Agfa Suite, which is part of its suite of software solutions. It includes the latest releases of ApogeeX, Agfa’s digital workflow software, :Delano and :Delano Approve Web-based project management tools and :Arcadia, a publishing and digital asset management solution.
Lyson will introduce its inks for HP 5000 Series printers. This offering is color-matched to the OEM ink set and is available in dye or pigment formulations. Also may be supplied in a non-invasive bulk feed system.
Timsons will display a zero make-ready unit, ZMR, showing the ease of producing short and long runs without stopping the press. The traditional ZMR, along with the newly designed ZMR2, allows printers to complete any given run length.

Training for software tools like Adobe, Alias, Apple, Corel, Discreet, Macromedia and Microsoft.
RISO’s HC5000 provides fast and affordable full-color digital printing for everyday communications, at speeds up to 105 ppm for as little as 3 cents a page running costs. The HC5000 harnesses two new proprietary technology platforms, ForceJet and ComColor, to deliver affordable and vivid full-color printing.
GlueDots International will introduce AutoDot and AutoDot Pro automated applicators. The applicators are an alternative to liquid and hot glue applicators and are designed to apply up to 60 dots per minute, have an internal winding system, are equipped with nose roller and nose plate components for application on a variety of materials and operate in either an upright or horizontal position.
Bao-Dear Enterprise will offer its hot foil stamping machine. Features include high production, precise positioning, stability and strong function.
Pivotal Z will showcase Prestige Scheduler, a planning system with live tracking. The design board lets users experiment with drag-and-drop and see the ripple effects. Scheduler features complete system integration and is multi-user and Web viewable.
Advanced Document Systems & Supply will display the AFT-Multi Paper Folder. It utilizes multiple feed trays to fold up to three sheets together at a time and allows for multi-sheet mailings.
PlastiSoft Corp. will offer TORI-FLEX, ERP software for the flexible packaging industry. Features include quoting, customer service, inventory, work orders, touchscreen shop floor reporting, bar coding, roll tracking, MRP, capacity planning, shipping/receiving, as well as accounting.
MAN Roland will exhibit a 65˝ version of the its extra-extra-large press: the ROLAND 900 XXL. A six-color with coater configuration, the 900 XXL demonstrates the advantages of combining high levels of automation with a super-sized press format and is equipped with a Maxson sheeter, which uses web stock.
The Rollem Advantage is an airfeed scoring, perforating and slitting machine. The system offers no cracking or marking and accuracy on a wide variety of stocks, with the side guide register. The Advantage processes all types of brochures and catalogs, slitting of variable data sheets, postcards and business cards, micro-perfing and slitting/perforating for CD/DVD inlays.
MBO America will introduce the Slitter Shaft Cassette, which provides easy access and exchange of the slitter shafts and improves makeready time and operation throughput. The retractable cassette brings the slitter shaft to the operator with a pull of a handle. This cassette is available on Perfection buckle folders and Combi-(K) folders for working widths of 26˝ to 64˝.
Hash Inc. will debut Animation:Master software for learning animation. Includes everything needed to create high-quality character animation, including complete modeling features, animation tools and rendering. Runs on Windows and MacOS X.
Bowe Bell + Howell will introduce Print Stream Optimization, which improves throughput of mail inserting equipment by manipulating the print stream in order to optimize equipment utilization. High performance is achieved in a manifesting environment, where inserter output is maximized while maintaining the manifest order required by the USPS.
The Spartanics M500 is a turnkey punching and diecutting system that uses electro-optical sensors to scan and record registration marks at production rates up to 165 strokes/minute. The M500 system is available in three formats, produces rates of up to 70,000 CR80 cards/hour and has a modular design for configuration with either sheetfed or coil, hard tool or steel rule die.
HELIOS Software will debut HELIOS UB unbreakable server solutions for image management, remote workflow, PDF workflow and proofing solutions. PrintPreview proofs PostScript and PDF print jobs, with full in-RIP separation, DeviceN and overprint support.
OneVision Software will introduce the Speedflow product line. Designed for commercial and digital printing companies, Speedflow provides a fully automated PDF workflow. Speedflow combines workflow management tools with preflighting, PDF editing and automated imposition solutions.
Schmedt will be presenting bookbinding machines that close the gap between craft bookbinding and industrial bookbinding. The complete range of machines reportedly makes manufacturing books in short runs easy and affordable.

Flint Ink will feature ArrowStar sheetfed inks, formulated to perform on all sheetfed presses and a UV sheetfed and web-printed forms product, designed to enable maximum press speeds and cure on sheetfed and web presses. Its low tack formulation allows for performance on a wide range of substrates and presses.
B&R Moll will introduce the Vantage 720, an in-line folding box gluer system with production rates up to 22,000 cartons/hour. This system is suited for producing straight-line boxes, table tents, sleeves, CD wallets, computer software cartons and presentation folders.
EZ Turner will display its pile turner, the EZturner. It is a compact, user-friendly device that reduces paper handling time by 70 percent. It handles 1,400 lbs. of paper up to 37˝ high without pressure on the load and reduces fatigue and injury to the press crew by eliminating hand stacking.
Vijuk Equipment will exhibit the Setmaster collator with in-line gluing, static pinning and the ability to collate CDs. It can shrink wrap on the Conflex fill-and-seal wrapper, which wraps at high speed using a continuous rotary hot knife sealing system. The Setmaster’s adjustable suction feeding heads pick up a range of materials, from carbon or NCR papers to heavy chip boards. Many models available based on sheet sizes from 2.5x2.5˝ to 52x76˝.
The HSS-HK Stitch System is the latest from Hohner Stitching Products. Features include reductions in setup times, maintenance intervals, spare parts inventories and training requirements and fits on a variety of saddlestitchers. With a patent pending wire cutting system, the system offers a significant savings in wire consumption.
Mimaki USA will feature a diverse range of products including ink-jet textile garment, high-resolution UV curable with white ink, flatbed and roll printers. Highlighted will be the white and spot color solvent inks.
Meech will introduce its feedback system. This system works in conjunction with the Pulsed DC system to not only monitor, but self-adjust, to keep static at the desired level. UL approved AC and DC bars for hazardous area use now available.
Schober USA will offer a RFID applicator, which places transponders under pre-printed labels. This applicator works in accordance with ISO specifications, in widths from 10mm to 160mm. Pre-printed labels with widths from 20mm to 200mm can be applied at rates from 5,000 to 20,000 labels/hour.
GP2 Technologies will introduce the fully automated AC-20 Autocase. With makeready measured in seconds and a production rate up to 1,200 covers/hour, the AC-20 meets the demand for short-run capability.
The Aztek Plateau scanner will be shown. Featuring OptiVu technology, the 48-bit, three lens XY, CCD scanner is capable of physically sampling up to 16,000 dpi, 8,000 dpi and 4,000 dpi. Has a 14x18˝ scanning bed and is able to scan, in normal mode, a 35mm 60MB 4,000 dpi scan in under 40 seconds.
MetalFX Technology will introduce its product that enables hundreds of metallic colors to be printed in one run of a press, using only one spot ink, the MetalFX Base Silver. Printed live at the show exclusively by Heidelberg.
Label Works will feature its four-color process, plus foil, labels. Adding foil to four-color process labels orders offers a solution that heightens visual appeal and can increase the competitive edge wherever the label is applied.
Eurocharts Production Planning Boards will feature its workload production display board. The job tracking print production board offers slotted production panels and includes all components and accessories.
Specialcolor will introduce ICISS Version 5.0 with individual line and image color management of any combination of colors. Color matching for line work to suit any process, and image color to suit customer’s taste.
JUST Normlicht will introduce the JUST proofStation 20-S, which features a digital dimmer with luminance control for soft proofing and a LCD computer monitor mounting system. The dimmer provides a digital display that allows the user to recall where to set the dimmer to match the computer monitor. The luminance control monitors light intensity, compensating for tube fluctuations.
RIMA System will introduce the RS 51, a non-compensating, vertical lift stacker designed for three-side open products for PFF folders. Features include servo technology, linear drive shafts, double squeeze rollers and a hinged-top belt section. The RS 51 creates brick-like stacks perfect for automated robotic palletizing.
Muller Martini will introduce the Bolero Model 3028 perfect binder. The system, which runs at 8,000 cph, can perform its own makeready, utilizes a CIP4 and JDF-ready digital interface, can handle product sizes for one-up and two-up production, and offers a wide product range for jobs requiring hot melt, cold glue or PUR in perfect bound, layflat or book blocks for casing-in.
EFI will launch next-generation Fiery System 7 software and color servers with enhanced graphic arts, production automation and VDP functionality, and expanded integration with its entire product portfolio. In addition, Executive Information System, an interactive interface for the Hagen, Logic and PSI systems, will provide real-time analysis of a range of management data.
Columbus IT Partner will feature the eGraph ERP Printing Suite, which provides technology for pre-calculation and quoting, statistics, planning and scheduling and online production reporting. It also calculates time usage, expenses and suggested sales price, and splits real cost/time used into departments and machines.
Advance Systems introduces the Smooth Float Airfoil drying system. Designed for drying coatings involving thin or lightweight films, very low web tension and/or drying temperatures that may range from 125° F to 500° F. By providing a continuous cushion of heated air, the process web is supported through the entire dryer without any physical contact.
The PowerStick from PowerForward Inc. is a continuous-motion machine for the “slide-on” application of labels to webs. Two servo-motors control the web unwind, while following the target web to ensure placement +/- 0.020˝ at 750 fpm. Handles labels, double-sided tape or any product on a release liner.
Rampage Systems introduces Rampage JVX, a JDF-enabled workflow. New features include remote job submission, remote preflighting, a notifications manager and options for remote proofing and collaboration, second-order FM screening and multi-phase hybrid screening.
Bielomatik Leuze has developed an in-line punching and spiral binding line for medium-sized stationery manufacturers and trade binders. Features include speeds of 30 and 24 books per minute, respectively, a binding system that replaces size change tooling with simple size adjustments and an optional magazine infeed with spine trim and cover feeders.
Hasler’s HJ3600P and HJ3800P are mid-range production ink-jet address printers, incorporating multiple print modules with either six or eight print heads, multi-belt vacuum tracks, product registration guides, spring steel hold-down straps and separate feeders. Work in-line with production side tabbers or off-line as a printing device at the end of inserters or folders.
Spiel Associates will show the Sterling Coilmaster III plastic coil binding system, which creates plastic coil from plastic filament and inserts it into the book, cuts and crimps. The systems offers an angled roller, a spreading device and binding with any pitch with round or oval holes at speeds up to 700 books/hour.
Van Son Holland Ink will show its oil-based Quickson PRO, which is available in process and PANTONE colors, packaged in 2.2-lb. vacuum sealed cans and features ink and water balance for fast setting time. After processing, it may be coated in-line with aqueous coatings, off-line with UV coating and will film laminate.
Sanden Machine will introduce its newest press offering, the Sanden Quantum EXpress. The flagship Sanden Quantum press line offers a proprietary UV design. The Quantum EXpress combines a PLC-controlled operating system with a new ergonomic design, a responsive ink train configuration and a 1,200 fpm platform.
Q.A.M. Inc. will offer its new Masterplaten 1020E and 1060E automatic platen diecutters. With a cutting force of 280 tons, a maximum sheet size of 40x28˝ or 413⁄4x29˝ and speeds from 7,700 to 10,000 sph, the Masterplaten series offers flexibility for diecutting and stripping requirements.
QuickTrak linear guidance systems will be available from BishopWisecarver. Reduces design and installation costs by integrating into machine configurations. The belt- or screw-driven QuickTrak is ideal for light industrial use printing and packaging applications where precision guided motion and corrosion resistance are critical.
Megaspirea Production will introduce the Mailliner 100. This finishing solution is combined with high-speed printing of variable and non-variable data. Offers online cutting, gluing and closing of envelopes, online dynamic diecutting, regrouping and folding of up to seven letters and online inserting of the letters.
Cosmotech offers the PC-500W, a fountain solution recycler for both sheetfed and web offset printing presses utilizing high-end filters. Features include a reduced number of times of fountain solution exchange, water adjustments and blanket roller cleaning, and reduced usage of additives and chemicals.
Neopost introduces its digital mailing system, the IJ 70. Ideal for mid-volume mailing, it processes up to 150 letters/minute while calibrating length, width and thickness up to 5⁄8˝ to ensure the proper amount of postage is applied to each piece. Adjusts for document thickness and features 10 preset job functions.
The Accura APEX series sheeters, from Accuratech Machine Industries, convert paper/board from rolls to sheets at a maximum speed of 1,000 fpm. Included are Accura APEX 140 (55˝), APEX 165 (65˝), APEX 190 (75˝) and APEX 280 (110˝) simplex/duplex cutters.
Kern will present its high-speed inserting line, including the Kern 100 RF unwinder, the Kern dual channel module and the Kern 3500 inserting system. The latest product lines of its document finishing-on-demand line include the Kern 146 folder with new cart system from Peak and the Kern 980 cutter with new drop stacker.
Superior Printing Ink will showcase its inks for commercial and packaging printers. Best practices have now been applied to the manufacture and servicing of UV curing inks. The Super-Cure system is a traditional UV ink for paper and board stocks. The hybrid system is Inter-Cure.
STI/Systems Technology Systems will introduce the STIC-2100 compensating stacker, the SuperFeeder-VPF and SuperFeeder XA. STI will also exhibit the Gunze IV-016, a stacker/bundler developed by Gunze, and the In-Log mailroom technologies RT/1120 rotary trimmer.
