Lewis Henderson has been named general manager of K/P Corp.'s Kent, WA-based mailing and fulfillment facility. Henderson brings 15 years of experience in fulfillment, marketing and management to his new position. He started at K/P in 1988 and most recently served as vice president of fulfillment services at its San Leandro, CA, facility.
Rod Bristol has been awarded the Ascender Award for the Northwest region by the Alliance of Consultants & Educators for the Printing Industry. Winners of the Ascender Award exhibit superior business practices and go above and beyond to share their knowledge and experience with industry peers. Bristol is the owner of Sudden Printing in Seattle.
Dan Lautner has joined Superior Printing as a sales representative at the company's Akron/Canton, OH-area sales office. Lautner was formerly employed at Danner Press.
Jeffrey Jensen has rejoined Argus Press, Niles, IL, as a salesperson after three years of entrepreneurial pursuits.
Kelley Snyder has been promoted to customer service representative for Rapid Bind, Portland, OR. She is a four-year veteran of the company's quality control department.
Ron Reebel has been appointed vice president of operations for Superior Printing, Warren, OH. Reebel joined Superior in August 2000 as director of business operations. He brings 35 years of industry experience to the company.
Gary Davis has been named executive vice president of sales for St. Ives of Cleveland. He now has management responsibility for the U.S. sales division. Previously, Davis served as senior vice president and as a member of St. Ives' U.S. division board of directors. Prior to that, he served as St. Ives general manager.
Jacqueline Stolz has been promoted from vice president to executive vice president of Dolan Wohlers, Boonton Twp., NJ. Stolz joined the company in 1992.
Proforma recently recognized its top owners at its Proforma Million Dollar Club/Coaches of the Year. During 2001, more than 40 of Proforma's owners achieved annual sales exceeding $1 million. Five of those owners surpassed $5 million in sales.
Dispatch Graphics, based in New York City, has announced the following appointments and promotions: Carl Holland has been promoted to vice president of sales. Vanessa Elem has joined Dispatch in a client services/sales role. Michael Grossman has joined as the production operations manager.
Michael Portland has been elected executive vice president and chief marketing and development officer for R.R. Donnelley, in Chicago. Previously, Portland served as the vice president and general manager of Ashland Distribution's service business division, as well as vice president of planning, development and marketing for Ashland Chemical's distribution and specialty chemicals group. In other company news, Laura Jean Hughes has been named vice president, customer experience for R.R. Donnelley Print Solutions. Hughes fills the newly created position, which supports Print Solutions' increased focus on finding solutions to help customers improve their business.
Kenneth Lake has joined Walden Graphics, Walden, NY, as senior sales representative. Previously, Lake worked as a sales rep for 20 years at Springhill Press, which ceased operations recently.
Denny Shorett has been installed as the 2002 chairman for the Printing Industries Association of Southern California (PIASC). Shorett is the president of Crown Printers. He succeeds Larry Lester of Lester Lithographics.
Stephen Whittaker, vice president of quality assurance for Monroe Litho in Rochester, NY, has been advanced to the grade of senior member, American Society of Quality (ASQ).
J. Kenneth Garner, president and COO of United Litho, has been elected chairman of the board of directors of the Graphic Arts Education & Research Foundation. Also, Robert E. Murphy, chairman and CEO of Japs-Olson, was elected vice chairman.
JKG Group, Boca Raton, FL, has announced the appointments of two executives. The company named James Lucas director of print operations, and Mark Flannery as director of logistics. Before joining JKG Group, Lucas spent three years with Wallace in Tampa, FL, as general manager and president. Flannery spent five years with The Nielsen Co. in Cincinnati, where he spearheaded the logistics division.
Jerry Ochs has been named senior account executive for Banta Publications Group, Hinsdale, IL. Previously, Ochs spent 11 years as regional sales manager with Publishers Press and was with United Color Press for 12 years in a variety of roles. Also new to the Banta Publications Group as a sales rep is Mark Bradley. He worked with Publishers Press for 10 years as a technical representative and spent nine years at Combined Communications Services in customer service and sales. Ochs and Bradley will work out of Banta's new sales office in Dayton, OH. Chris Portalatin has also been named as a sales representative for the Publications Group, working from its regional sales office in New York City. He is a former account executive for Wisconsin Color Press.
Gary McCants has been promoted to the position of vice president for Specialties Bindery, Hyattsville, MD. McCants was previously the plant manager, a position he held since joining the company in 1999.
Sue Nisson has joined the staff of Webcrafters Inc., in Madison, WI, as executive director of business development. She brings many years of book publishing experience. Chuck Coyle has been promoted to sales representative. Previously, he was a customer service rep within the company.
Shawn Riley has joined Padgett Printing, Dallas, as a sales representative. He brings almost three years of sales experience in printing.
John Jaymont is The Printing Industries Association Serving Northern Kentucky and Ohio's newest staff member. Jaymont is now the assistant vice president for employee and labor negotiations. Jaymont was a co-founder of Metroweb in Erlanger, KY, where he was president, COO, vice president of sales and marketing, plant manager and a customer service rep from 1977 to 2000.
Jim Leone has joined The Instant Web Companies, Chanhassen, MN, as vice president of mail operations. Prior to joining the company, Leone was president and CEO of Nitro Data Systems. Don Brady, who served as interim director of mailing operations, will continue in his role as vice president of product and process development.
Jay Zawerschnik has been named vice president of operations at Sussex, WI-based sheetfed printer Color Ink. Zawerschnik previously worked for Eastman Kodak/Kodak Polychrome Graphics. He has 24 years of experience in the printing industry.
Steve Silberman was elected president of the Binding Industries Association at the trade group's international conference held in April. Silberman is president of American Thermoplastic Co. of Pittsburgh. He has served on the board of directors of the BIA for many years.
The Great Lakes Companies, Cleveland, has announced two staff promotions involving its AKSESS division, a marketing communications portal designed to empower companies with the total management of all of their brand-building assets. Dean Hanisko, formerly vice president of strategic development, has been named chief technology officer for the company. Chris Donnelly, formerly director of business development at AKSESS, has been named director of operations.
