American Spirit Graphics, Minneapolis, has promoted several key managers. Darren Carlson has been promoted to CEO. Myron Angel has been promoted to president and COO. Lauren Drevlow is now executive vice president. Jason Carlson has assumed the position of corporate vice president.
The Segerdahl Corp., Chicago, has appointed John Kampa to its sales and account management staff, and Roy Perfetti has been named to the company's sales staff. Kampa has an extensive, 17-year background in the web printing industry. For the past seven years, he worked as a national account executive at Lehigh Direct. Perfetti has 20 years of experience in the printing industry. His most recent sales position was with RPP Printing.
Douglas Clott has been appointed executive vice president of sales and marketing for EMCO Printers in Everett, MA. Clott's experience in color printing spans nearly 30 years. Prior to joining EMCO, Clott held several marketing management positions at Scitex Corp., and most recently was vice president of sales and marketing at Karat Digital Press.
Classic Graphics, Charlotte, NC, has made several personnel changes. Pam Niemeier has been hired as an account executive. She brings 12 years of experience in production management in agency and corporate settings. Travis Goode has joined the company as a customer service representative. Also, Josh Truesdail has been tapped as an account executive. He has represented a number of printing companies in the Triangle area.
Lawrence Brown has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president of national sales for Banta Book Group, in Menasha, WI. Brown joined the Banta Book Group in 1997 and has served as vice president of sales for the group's Southern region.
First Impressions Lithographic, of Plainview, NY, has expanded its service area, increased its sales staff and added office space. First Impressions is now serving Westchester, Rockland and Northern New Jersey. The company has announced the appointment of David Goldstein as account executive for the expanded service area. Also new to the company's sales force is Sam Nemaric, senior account executive, metropolitan markets. Fulfilling another aspect of its growth plans, First Impressions recently tripled its office space on Manhattan Avenue.
Terry Tevis has been appointed president and CEO of Pluzynski Associates, New York. Tevis brings 30 years of graphic arts industry experience spanning several senior management posts, including CEO of American Signature Graphics and president of R.R. Donnelley's Sterling catalog business unit and later its Direct Response business unit.
Cincinnati-based prepress house Phototype has announced the appointment of Dan Vosel to the newly created position of general manager. Vosel began his career at a Fortune 500 printer in the commercial forms business, and later accepted a position at Westinghouse. He initially joined Phototype in 1996, most recently serving as operations manager.
PBM Graphics, Durham, NC, has appointed Trent Lawson to the position of fulfillment manager. Lawson brings more than 25 years of experience to his new position.
Jean Peck has been named a senior account executive for The Artcraft Co.'s Boston region. Allison Hall is now a senior account executive for its Worcester, Springfield, Hartford and Providence territories. Christopher Campasano has been appointed the new account executive for the company's New York and New Jersey territory. All three individuals were formerly employed by Woodbury & Co.
Mark E. Schoenborn has joined Visual Systems, in Milwaukee, as a sales representative. Schoenborn is based out of Chicago. He comes to the company from Victor Graphics, where he served as a sales representative.
Women in Production has announced the five recipients of this year's Luminaire Award. The individuals are: Barry Meinerth, senior vice president of production and fulfillment, Time Inc., AOL Time Warner; Brad Mintz, vice president and manager of graphic services, McCann-Erickson New York; Betty Ewens-Quadracci, president and publisher, Milwaukee Magazine and president, Quad/Creative; Frank Stillo, chairman and CEO, Sandy Alexander; and Wanda Ziembinski, production director, Hachette Filipacchi Media. This year, a special Luminaire Award was presented to Rick Boyko, chief creative officer at Ogilvy & Mather New York. Boyko represents more than 100 volunteers who participated in the creation of Brotherhood, a pictorial tribute to the firefighters and firehouses of the city of New York.

EU Services, Rockville, MD, has added two sales representatives to its Washington metropolitan area staff. Katherine Buohl brings more than seven years of experience, working for Fry Communications. Matt Bloom worked for a newspaper in the Washington area as a marketing consultant.
The Alliance of Consultants and Educators for the Printing Industry recently awarded the Ascender Award for the California region to Wayne Yada, president of Premier Color Graphics. Winners of the Ascender Award exhibit superior business practices and go above and beyond to share their knowledge and experience with industry peers. Yada regularly contributes at Print-Image International and Printing Industries of Northern California conferences. He is also an active member of PrintOwners, a worldwide network of printers who share information concerning the graphic arts industry.
Michael Johnson, owner of Proforma Pinnacle in Celebration, FL, was recognized by the International Franchise Association (IFA) with the Franchisee of the Year award during the 42nd annual International Franchise Convention. He has been a Proforma owner since 1996 and is currently a member of Proforma's Million Dollar Club and president of the Owner Advisory Council. IFA awards recognize leaders in the business community who have contributed to the franchising and free enterprise system.
