Honor Societies Merge, Induct New Members
The Ash Khan Society of PIA and the Society of Fellows of GATF have merged to form The Ben Franklin Society of PIA/GATF. The officers for the new Ben Franklin Society are Robert Murphy, chairman; Kent Martin, vice chairman; William Evans, secretary; and Ted Ringman, treasurer.
The Ash Khan Society and the Society of Fellows have inducted 15 new members including: Robert Brown, CEO, Goss International; Wendell Burns, president and CEO, Jones Printing; John Green, president, Automated Graphic Systems; David Langhans; Herbert Hall Provence III, former president of Provence Printing; Charles Vaughan, president, Vaughan Printing; Alfred McCulloch, retired executive president, Moore Wallace State Printing; George Morgan, former owner and founder of Craftsman Printing; Jack Ragsdale, former CEO of The Easley Progress and Martin Printing; Joseph Becker, principal, Becker & Co.; John Berthelsen, president, Suttle-Straus Inc.; James Clark, director of customer and business services, McNaughton & Gunn; Dean Flowers, associate dean, Waukesha County Technical College; Steven Fullerton, director of trade relations, Kodak Graphic Communications Group; and Larry Kroll, vice president, Print Media Academy, Heidelberg USA.
GAMA, the PIASC's Graphic Arts Management Association, recently celebrated its 11th annual Self-Promotion and Marketing Competition at a special awards luncheon. Stuart F. Cooper Co. took home the Platinum Award/Best of Show, while Woodridge Press won both the People's Choice Award and Best Display Presentation Award.
The Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF ) has announced its 2006 slate of officers. Eric Delzer, Delzer Lithograph, Waukesha, WI, is chairman of the board. Dave DeLana, president of Heritage Press in Oklahoma City, OK, is first vice chairman. Janet Green, CEO of Greens Inc. in Long Beach, CA, is second vice chairman. Ken Kaufman, chairman/CEO of Omniprint Inc. in Lanham, MD, is secretary. And Hal Slager of Trico Graphics, Chicago, is the new treasurer.
In Lincoln, NE, MetroGroup Corp. has appointed Thomas McAlister as chief information officer of the company. McAlister assumes this newly created position with a focus on planning and management of the company's information technology functions. Also, Bob Wientzen, former president and CEO of the Direct Marketing Association, has joined the MetroGroup board of directors.
AGS Custom Graphics of Macedonia, OH, recently welcomed two new account managers, Bernard Kim Bolin and Patrick Leonard, to its sales force. Bolin will manage the Columbus, OH, office, while Leonard will manage accounts stretching from Maryland to Michigan. AGS is part of the Consolidated Graphics network.
Rockville, MD-based Smith Litho has made two staff additions. Larry Celey and Mike Philie have joined the Smith Litho sales team.
Schawk Inc., Des Plaines, IL, announced that David Frederick has been named managing director of its digital solutions group.
