Printer Lauded For Energy Conservation
VERONA, WI—By changing all of its work-area lighting from metal halide lights to fluorescent fixtures made by Orion Energy Systems, Park Printing House saved 45 percent (45,290 kilowatt hours per year) on its lighting bill and collected an award for its efforts.
Dickinson Press, in Grand Rapids, MI, has bolstered its management team with the addition of Michael Linder as vice president of sales and chief marketing officer and Paul Heroman as vice president of operations.
Long-time New England printing executive Duncan Todd has been named president of Daniels, a Merrill Communications Co. In a move to reinforce the company's position, Todd announced a return to the Daniels name from Merrill/Daniels. Daniels is a Boston-based company with a 125-year heritage. The company will continue to work closely with and utilize the resources of its St. Paul-based parent, the Merrill Corp.
Chip Quayle has joined Carlstadt, NJ-based Pictorial Offset Corp. as its newest team leader. In this position, Quayle is responsible for coordinating customer jobs through the manufacturing operations integrating sales, production, manufacturing distribution, scheduling and administration.
Jeff Robson has joined Cary Printing as controller. Before joining the Cary, NC-based company, Robson was controller of Siemens Inc. Janet Palmer has been hired as a sales representative.
Mimeo.com, an online, on-demand digital printing company, has appointed Kenneth "Skip" Trevathan as the company's new COO. In this newly created role, Trevathan will lead all daily operations for Mimeo's centralized document production facility based in Memphis, TN.
Kramer Carton Co., a privately held manufacturer of folding cartons located in Sacramento, CA, recently named Bob Brennan as its new CEO. Additionally, Brennan was elected to the board of directors.

Immediate past chairman is David Branch, president of Branch-Smith Printing. The Worldwide Printing Thermographers Association (WPT) has announced the winners of its 8th annual Excellence in Thermography Contest—the FREDDIEs. Ink & Paper Magic Makers won the 2005 Fred Nicotera Award for "Best of the Best" acknowledging excellence in ensemble of letterhead, envelopes and business cards, thermographed with an additional process. TAGA, The Technical Association of the Graphic Arts, has entered into an administrative relationship with the Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF), moving its headquarters to PIA/GATF headquarters in Sewickley, PA. TAGA has also joined The Print Council as an associate member. In other news, the association will extend TAGA student chapters to additional colleges and universities worldwide.
Officials at Custom Printing, Oxnard, CA, report that the company is exceeding 30,000 pounds of trimout per week for recycling as part of its Custom Printing Green Project.
