SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA—RR Donnelley (RRD) representatives presented a $50,000 check to Cal Poly State University in support of the Graphic Communication Institute's new RR Donnelley Learning Center.
As part of its ongoing commitment to furthering education in the graphic communications industry, MAN Roland awarded the following scholarships to the recently held NAPL and PIA/GATF Management & Leadership Institute: Garland Lipscomb, production supervisor, Stafford Printing, Stafford, VA, was awarded the MAN Roland Larry B. Perkins Scholarship and participated in the program's Graphic Communications Management course; and Scott Vaughan, prepress manager of Kase Printing, Hudson, NH, received the MAN Roland Harry V. Quadracci Scholarship to attend the Production Management course.
Janet Green, CEO of Greens Inc. Printers and Lithographers in Long Beach, CA, has been selected by the Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) as its national chairman for 2007, making her the first woman in the 120-year history of PIA/GATF to serve in this capacity. Prior to her duties of national chairman, Green will serve as chairman of the PIA/GATF Association Relations Committee, as well as secretary of the association.
Indexx Printing Solutions, Greenville, SC, has added Dennis Carter to its staff as assistant plant manager/scheduler. Carter has more than 28 years of experience in the printing industry, including stints at Electric City Printing, Band & White and Hickory Printing Group.
St. Louis-based Jerome Group has appointed two marketing industry veterans to its executive sales team, one of whom will lead the firm's new Atlanta office. Matthew Nelson, who is now based in Atlanta, and Michael O'Brien will play a role in building Jerome's national client base. Together, they bring nearly four decades of direct marketing leadership.
Vertis announced that Ann Raider has joined the Baltimore-based company as chief strategy officer. In her new role, Raider will lead Vertis' North America sales and marketing teams. Prior to joining Vertis, she served as senior vice president of sales and marketing at News America Marketing. Also, David Laverty has joined the company as senior vice president and general manager of Vertis' advertising insert platform.
The Garvey Group has named Mark Stempel sales manager of its Milwaukee facility. He was formerly employed by The Printery.
Hi-Liter Graphics, of Burlington, WI, has added Martin Nuiver to its sales team. He will work from the company's new sales office in Dyer, IN.
Woodward Printing Services (WPS), based in Platteville, WI, reports that Don Gimberline has accepted the position of sales and marketing director. He had been serving as interim sales and marketing director.
William Gibson, vice president of Rider Dickerson in Chicago, has been appointed chairman of the Presidents Conference Advisory Committee of Printing Industries of America and the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF). Gibson will serve a two-year term.
