PINEVILLE, NC—Belk Printing Technologies has installed its third Mitsubishi press. The Diamond 3000S began production at Belk in mid-February. This is the company's second six-color press.
Nies/Artcraft Cos., St. Louis, announced that Keith Marcks has been named president of Lion Promotional Solutions, a subsidiary of Nies/Artcraft specializing in promotional coupons, games and sweepstakes, and point-of-purchase displays. In other news, Tom Miller has been promoted to the position of vice president, marketing/account services. He has held the position of director of marketing at Nies/Artcraft for the past four years.
Randy Monroe of LX Printing in Colorado Springs, CO, received the Eagle Award from Certified Printers International (CPrint) at the annual owner's conference in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The Eagle Award is the highest alliance leadership award, and is given for outstanding efforts in the recipient's business, as well as the alliance.
Industry veteran Mac Byrd has joined Pictorial Offset in Carlstadt, NJ, as director of marketing. He was most recently senior manager of brand relationship marketing for Agfa Corp.
William Hogg Jr., executive vice president of manufacturing and operations, Valassis Manufacturing, Livonia, MI, has been named the recipient of the Web Offset Association's (WOA) seventh annual Harry V. Quadracci VISION Award for leadership, achievement and visionary excellence in heatset web offset printing. The award will be presented May 3rd during a luncheon at the PIA Web Offset Association annual conference in suburban Dallas.
Robert Ott Jr. has been named president and CEO of Florence, KY-based The Hennegan Co. Robert Ott Sr. remains as chairman. Also, Michael Fleury was promoted to executive vice president, national sales, for the corporation. Fleury has served in a number of senior management positions in both sales and manufacturing at Hennegan and other leading industry firms.
In San Luis Obispo, CA, Cal Poly's Graphic Communication Department has appointed Xiaohong Wang of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology as a research professor. Wang arrived at Cal Poly in January and will participate in teaching and research activities through at least the summer. At the University of Shanghai, Wang is an associate professor of digital prepress and printing technology.
EnvelopeAmerica, a trade printer based in New Castle, DE, and sister company FileAmerica, of Fordyce, AR, have made a move that will benefit existing customers and prospective clients. In strengthening the relationship between the two companies, file products, as well as envelope and letterhead printing, are available from both the FileAmerica and EnvelopeAmerica locations. EnvelopeAmerica is also helping distributors grow revenues by helping to educate their sales and customer service teams.
Mike Barrett was appointed vice president of operations at BBF Printing Solutions, Largo, FL. Previously, Barrett worked as director of operations. Eric Kemerer was promoted to vice president of human resources and IT. He previously served as director of strategic resources. The company has also redesigned its Website, launched a new logo and introduced four new divisions—Label Solutions, Plastic Card Solutions, Document Solutions and Direct Mail Solutions.
In Franklin Park, IL, creative services group Tukaiz has appointed Nicholas Bogdanovic to digital print services manager. Tukaiz recently expanded its facility with the acquisition of two new HP Indigo 3050 digital presses.
Oxnard, CA-based Custom Printing has hired veteran image specialist Matthew Flad. He formerly worked for Ivyhill DGS, a division of Warner Brothers Studios.

Mike LaForest was appointed vice president of operations by the board of directors at Color Ink during the last quarter of 2004. LaForest assumed the position immediately and brings 33 years of experience to the Sussex, WI, headquarters.
Ann Arbor, MI-based book printer Malloy Inc. announced that Cathy Strider and Scott Payne have joined the company's sales team. Strider will have account responsibility in Northern California, Oregon and Washington, while Payne will cover the New England territory.
Crystal Johnson has been hired to fill the new position of project coordinator manager at Cary Printing in Cary, NC. She will be responsible for all order processing while overseeing customer service reps, interacting with account executives and ensuring client relations.
The Printing Industries Association of Southern California (PIASC) has selected Michael Patton, president of Creative Press, as the recipient of the organization's Ben Franklin Award. Patten was honored by his peers because of his successful utilization of innovative technology and industry service. He is the son of Jack Patton, who founded Creative Press in 1958.
