This change is part of the company's overall sales strategy of providing comprehensive packages of services that utilize combinations of digital and offset printing technologies. Spearheading this effort will be Ken Gersten, vice president of sales.
Tukaiz LLC, a creative services group based in Franklin Park, IL, has promoted Larry Pagel to director of operations.
Minneapolis-based GLS, a provider of "Integrated Communications Solutions," has named Doug Hammerseng as its new vice president of sales and marketing. He comes to GLS with more than 26 years of experience in the printing industry. Prior to joining GLS, Hammerseng was regional sales manager for Relizon.
The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO), which recently announced it would reorganize its operations around six strategic business lines, reports the newly formed Security and Intelligent Documents operation will be headed by seasoned executive Clarence Jellen, former president of both Time Life Books and Time Life Direct in Alexandria, VA. He joined the GPO in 2003 as a consultant. Also, Greg Brower joins the GPO as Inspector General. Most recently, Brower served in the U.S. Department of Justice where he was legislative counsel in the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, managing Congressional affairs for the 93 U.S. Attorneys Offices around the country.
The Philadelphia Direct Marketing Association recently welcomed Beth Ann Scullin, marketing director for New Castle, DE-based EnvelopeAmerica, to its board of directors.
Monroe Litho has promoted Tony Harris to vice president of sales and marketing. As a company officer, Harris will also become part of the Rochester, NY-based printer's executive management team. He formerly served as sales manager.
Litho Inc., of St. Paul, MN, continued to expand its sales team by hiring Jim Goetz as a sales representative.
The volunteer leadership of Printing Industries of New England (PINE) was announced at the trade association's 117th annual meeting recently. Reelected to one-year leadership positions on the PINE board of directors were Jeffrey Pallis, president of DS Graphics, chairman; Thomas Gardner, president of Curry Printing, vice chairman; and Tim Donohue, vice president and CFO of Ames Safety Envelope, secretary/treasurer. Reelected to three-year terms as board directors were Charles Poor, president and owner of Flagship Press; Christopher Wells, president and CEO of LaVigne Inc.; and Robert Clement, president and owner of The Allied Group. Russell Frizzell, president of Bay State Envelope, was elected to a three-year term as a new board director. Two executives were elected to fill unexpired terms through 2006. They are Gary Kittredge, president and COO, Capital City Press; and Kevin Kervick, president and owner of Bassette Printers.
Van Gennep-M.A.C., a Netherlands-based developer of planning, process and collaborative workflow management solutions for creative departments, and Sussex, WI-based printer Quad/Graphics have entered into a partnership agreement that will allow Quad/Graphics to provide its customers with an integrated workflow management system. Under the agreement, Quad/Graphics has become a minority shareholder of Van Gennep and is authorized to directly market and sell Van Gennep's flagship product, PlanSystem3, a comprehensive planning, workflow, editorial and process management system that integrates marketing, production, advertising and editorial departments with desktop applications.
John Yulico has joined GANCOM, a printing, reprographics, direct mail and information technology firm, as an account manager in its recently opened New York City office.
Michael Cunningham, founder, former CEO and president of Cunningham Graphics International, has made a $100,000 commitment to Cal Poly's Graphic Communication Department as part of its 60th anniversary fund-raising drive. The pledge will be fully funded over three years and will establish the Michael Cunningham Graphic Communication Endowment.
David Marsh has been named CFO of Padgett Printing in Dallas. Marsh replaces Glenn Lavender, who left the company in November 2004. Since that time, Marsh has been serving as acting CFO.
Don Robb has been appointed to the newly created position of COO at Coral Graphic Services, Hicksville, NY. Robb most recently served as vice president of manufacturing for RR Donnelley's Roanoke, VA, facility.
Bob Utley, who founded Utley Brothers of Troy, MI, in 1945 with his brother Wheeler, has retired and sold his majority ownership in the specialty printing company. His successor is Duane Harrison, who has served as president since 1998.
Thomas Murel has been named president of Color Ink, based in Sussex, WI. Murel previously served as the company's vice president.
