The Soderstrom Society of the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL) has named Jim Hyder, president and CEO of Fetter Printing, Louisville, KY, and former NAPL chairman, recipient of the 44th annual Walter E. Soderstrom Award.
Allen Conway, executive vice president for the resale custom division of Cenveo Inc., has been appointed to the position of president of the Cenveo resale segment doing business as Quality Park. In addition, Bob Hart, current president of the resale segment, has accepted a position as special assistant to the chairman.
The Worldwide Printing Thermographers Association (WPT) has announced the winners of its 7th annual Excellence in Thermography Contest—the FREDDIEs. The Jansson Chase Co. won the 2004 Fred Nicotera Award for "Best of the Best" for excellence in the Social Announcement or Invitations, 100 percent thermographed category. Litho Inc., Saint Paul, MN, has hired Scott Boulton as its new vice president of operations. He is a long-time employee of Merrill Corp.
Tim Fischer, former director of business systems for American Color Graphics, Nashville, TN, has joined the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL) as vice president, finance and member services. In this newly created position, Fischer reports to Joseph Truncale, NAPL president and CEO, and has broad operational responsibilities, including oversight of the association's finance, conferences and continuing education and communications departments.
Bob Steller, director of manufacturing at St. Louis-based Kohler Print Group, has retired after 42 years of service. He started his career with Kohler in 1962 as a press operator. Also, Phil Wallis has joined the organization as fulfillment manager for the KPEX division.
NorthStar Print Group reports that its quality management systems are now ISO 9001:2000 certified. The certification covers NorthStar's facilities in Norway, MI, Green Bay, WI, and Watertown, WI.
Triangle Printers, based in Skokie, IL, announced the addition of Louis DeConcilis to its growing team in the role of account manager.
The Printing Association of Florida (PAF) announced that Warren Wilkins, president of Webcom Limited, Toronto, has been named the Graphic Arts Leaders of the Americas (GALA) North American Award Recipient for 2005. Mário César de Camargo has been named the Latin American Award recipient. Both men will receive their award at the 22nd annual GALA Award Banquet and Reception, February 4th, 2005, in Miami Beach during Graphics of the Americas 2005.
Sussex, WI-based commercial printer Color Ink has added new employees to its growing corporation. Chrissie Perkins has joined the mailing and fulfillment department as a direct mail technician. Also, Mary Cina has been hired as marketing and hospitality director, and John Harrington joined the company's sales team.
Bruce Jensen has been named vice president, U.S. sales for the catalog and magazine group within the information services sector of Transcontinental Printing. He has previously held sales positions with Getty Images, Banta Corp. and RR Donnelley.
Kevin Spall, a veteran of the printing industry and former director of business development for the Book Publishing Group of RR Donnelley, has been named vice president of sales and marketing for Lightning Source, a provider of combined book manufacturing and distribution services located in LaVergne, TN.
HM Graphics, Milwaukee, has announced the addition of David Cox to its sales staff as a senior account executive. Cox, who has 15 years of experience, is now serving the Chicago area.

Global DocuGraphix, a Chicago-based document management and graphics services company, has completed its acquisition of National Graphics Co. (NGC). Founded in 1975, NGC is a Denver-based print distributorship that sells a complete line of products and services, including business forms, forms management, envelopes, storage/distribution, promotional products, commercial printing, printed binders and e-commerce solutions.
Booklets designed to introduce young people to the printing process and graphic communications instructional activities designed for children in grades two to nine are now available on the Web portal GRAPHIC COMM CENTRAL at http://teched/vt/edu/gcc. The young person's guide "What is Printing?" was produced by MAN Roland in English and French. A Spanish language version is in development. The colorful booklet describes the history of printing and the printing process and materials and stresses the importance of reading and the great variety of printed products. "What Is Printing?" is available as a PDF on the Website.
