Florida Printer Gives Journalists a Plant Tour
MIAMI—Colonial Press gave a tour of its 200,000-square-foot facility to a group of industry journalists in December. The group watched as job information was input into the PECOM press operating and automation system, which feeds information for approximately 350 jobs per month to the company's four MAN Roland sheetfed presses and one ROTOMAN web press. Graphic Press, Los Angeles, has announced the addition of Jim Kahm, Mike Gianni and Danny Welan to the company's sales team roster. Kahm and Gianni will assume vice president and sales manager titles, respectively, for the Northern California region. Welan will support sales in Southern California.

Brian Gay is now president of Kwik Kopy Printing, The Ink Well, Franklin's Printing, Copy Club, American Wholesale Thermographers (AWT), Kwik Kopy Business Centers and Parcel Plus. Cindy Navin has been named senior vice president in charge of strategic planning, and Charles "Buz" Grimes is senior vice president of international expansion.
Joye Minnick has joined CRW Graphics, Pennsauken, NJ, as a senior sales consultant. She has 27 years of graphic design and advertising sales experience.
Banta Corp. has promoted Edward Roethke to the position of director of environmental, health and safety. Roethke joined the company in 2001 as a corporate safety engineer.
Cadmus Communications, Richmond, VA, has announced the creation of an STM Customer Advisory Team with the hiring of two associates dedicated to serving the STM (Scientific, Technical and Medical) publishing community. Debbie McClanahan is vice president of STM market relations, and Priscilla Markwood is STM business director. In January, Cadmus will open an office in Bethesda, MD, to serve customers located in the area.
Recognizing a need to facilitate the entry and education of more young people in the graphic arts, a new scholarship has been created in the name of Suttle-Straus, Waunakee, WI. The permanent endowed scholarship becomes the latest addition to the Gutenberg Society of the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF). The Society recognizes donors providing a gift commitment of $100,000 or more.
The Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) has announced Frank Barnett of Anderson Lithograph, Los Angeles, as the recipient of its 2003 William D. Schaeffer Environmental Award. The award, named for former GATF research director and pioneering environmental advocate William Schaeffer, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions toward environmental awareness, education and best practices in the printing and graphic communications industry.
Enterprise Press, New York City, has appointed Skip Blumenthal to the position of COO. He joined Enterprise from the management team at FLM Graphics in Fairfield, NJ.
K/P Corp., San Ramon, CA, has named Bob Jendusa to the position of vice president of human resources. He previously held human resources positions with ANG Newspapers in Oakland and Hart Graphics in Austin, TX.
York Graphic Services, York, PA, announced Craig Rineman is its new vice president. He was most recently director of business development for TechBooks. Prior to his position at TechBooks, Rineman was vice president of operations at Sheridan Press, where he was employed for 25 years.
San Francisco-based Kelmscott Communications has merged the sales organizations for CDS Publications in Medford, OR, and Printing Control Graphics in Seattle. Also, Rich Lancaster has joined the Northwest sales team as vice president of business development and sales.
Paul Coonelly has been promoted to senior vice president of operations at First Impressions Lithographic, Plainview, NY. Also, Thomas Quartararo has been named plant manager.
