The Printing Industries of America and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have entered into an agreement to establish a collaborative relationship to develop printing industry-wide voluntary guidelines to reduce injuries. The Graphic Arts Employers, a committee of PIA that serves unionized printers, has committed $20,000 in resources to begin the project. The alliance agreement will stress outreach and communications with the industry, promote a national dialogue on workplace safety and health, and improve training and education on ergonomics issues.
EU Services, Rockville, MD, recently promoted two members of its customer service department to senior account managers. Lisa Fish has been an account manager since 2000. Paula Sheeler has been in customer service since 1995 and worked for a time as EU's corporate trainer before becoming an account manager in 1998.
The Imaging Bureau, Fort Worth, TX, has made significant additions to its sales team to support the increased level of production. Joining the team are Mike McDaniel, Buddy Barentine, Bill Hoke and Scott Cates. McDaniel, a long-time sales representative for Laser Tech Color, joins The Imaging Bureau team. Barentine was previously with C&G Graphic Technologies and The Lehigh Press, among others. Hoke joins the company having most recently been with Blanks Color Imaging and Etheridge Printing, respectively. Cates most recently worked in the sales department of Complete Printing & Graphics.
Frank Caminito has joined New England Printing & Graphics, Lincoln, RI, as production manager. Previously, Caminito had been production manager at Champagne/Lafayette Communications in Natick, MA, and at United Printing in Warwick, RI.
Stephen Paladino has been appointed COO for The Fala DM Group. Paladino has been with the company since 1996 as its CFO and CAO, a role he will continue to hold.
Chuck Varos has been named to the new position of marketing/new business development for Printwell Printing, Taylor MI. The position was created to promote newly acquired equipment from Wintor Swan and to increase capacity.
The Printing Industries of America, (PIA) and the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) has announced that Eric Delzer of Delzer Lithograph,Waukesha, WI, will serve as the 2003 second vice-chairman for PIA/GATF board of directors. Jim Mayes, of Colorcraft of Virginia, Sterling, VA, will serve as the 2003 secretary for GATF. Delzer has served on the board of directors of PIA since 1993. Prior to acquiring Colorcraft in 1986, Mayes was vice president of sales for two area commercial printers. He has been active in the Virginia PIA affiliate, serving as chairman in 1996.
Scott Bakkala has been added to the Segerdahl Graphics project management staff. Bakkala has worked in prepress and print production for the past 10 years. In other news, Randy Somen is the newest member of the Chicago-based company's customer service staff. Somen has more than 30 years of experience in the printing industry.
Susan Reif, director of the Center for Professional Development of the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL), Paramus, NJ, has been honored with the 2002 Terry McMillian Award of the Association for Graphic Arts Training (AGAT). The award is given each year to a person selected by the association's board who displays a constant passion for training and learning through ongoing participation in the graphic arts industry. Reif has been with NAPL for 14 years, serving as publications editor and WorkPLACE program manager.
