David Carr is now vice president of the Printing Industries Association, serving Northern Kentucky and Ohio (PIANKO). Carr was recently brought on board to head up the association's efforts to grow membership and to serve and assist existing members. Carr's sales experience spans more than 20 years and his experience in the graphic communications and printing industry goes back 16 years, ranging from prepress to production and post-production.
Robert Romero, operations manager at Paragon Printing & Mailing in Austin, TX, has been named this year's "greatest" in sheetfed offset press operations and problem solving by the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF). Romero won the GATF problem solving and sheetfed press operating skills contest using SHOTS, a highly integrated, interactive software package used as part of a training system for press operators.
Jeff Reich has been hired as the regional director of sales for the Baltimore/Washington, DC, markets for Pemcor Inc., Conshohocken, PA. Reich has been an industry professional for more than 25 years in the high-end color process commercial printing marketplace, with the last 14 years in sales.
Gene Toepfer has joined Rider Dickerson, Chicago, as senior vice president. Toepfer has 24 years of experience in sales and management in the graphic arts industry.
Jim Engler has joined Lake Erie Graphics, Cleveland, as an account manager. Engler brings more than 30 years of experience in the graphic arts industry.
Dave Carson, sales and marketing manager at Brenneman Printing, Lancaster, PA, is the recipient of the 2002 John H. Dillard Award. The annual award by the Graphic Arts Sales Foundation honors excellence in sales and marketing management and customer development.
Michael Leaventon, president of Precision Printing, Columbus, OH, has been honored at the 10th annual "Forty Under 40 Awards." This award is given to young business leaders who are making a positive and lasting impact on their business and city through community service and professional endeavors.

Brodock Press, Utica, NY, has announced two promotions. Jim Clarey has been named plant manager. He joined Brodock in 1974 as a helper on a two-color press. Also, Ed Goff has been promoted to bindery manager. He joined the company in 1990.
