New Additions Increase Efficiency
APPLETON, WI—JP Graphics is counting on Kodak’s Prinergy workflow and a new Kodak Lotem 800 II Quantum platesetter with a five cassette automated plate loader to keep up with growth and customer demands. The midsize printer has acquired three different printing firms since 1998, including its latest acquisition 18 months ago that doubled its workforce overnight from 25 to 50 employees.
CHICAGO—Hi-Liter/Inland and MAN Roland executives meet at Graph Expo to raise their glasses to the printer’s new 4x4 32-page web press destined for its Burlington, WI, facility.
Brian SanFillipo has filled the new position of director of digital operations at Henry Wurst Inc., Apex, NC.
KPEX, a Kohler Print Group company, has appointed Rachel Barbieri as a sales account executive. Barbieri will play an instrumental role in developing digital business opportunities for St. Louis-based KPEX.
Baltimore-based Art Litho Printing Solutions has made several announcements. Brian Riemer has joined the company as maintenance engineer and production project manager. Kari Laudano is the new marketing coordinator. Also, the company has earned chain-of-custody certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
Kerry Lodish Jr., founding partner of Integra Graphix in Lititz, PA, has been named vice president. Brian Hess has been named partner and vice president, sales and marketing. And Michael Dimitris has been hired as a customer service representative.
The Samuels family of Pictorial Offset Corp., Carlstadt, NJ, were honored by the Youth Consultation Service (YCS) at the eighth annual Festival of Flavors benefit. The Samuels family has been long-time supporters of YCS in New Jersey, a private, non-profit children’s mental health and social services agency.
The Ben Franklin Society, an honor society of the Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF), has awarded the 2006 Naomi Berber Memorial Award to Elizabeth “Betty” Maul, president of FrontEnd Graphics in Cherry Hill, NJ. Established in 1976, the Berber Award recognizes the contributions of women to the graphic communications industry.
Stafford Communications Group (SCG), of Greenville, MI, celebrated the completion of a multi-million dollar expansion with an open house and ceremonial ribbon-cutting recently. Newsweb Printing, a division of SCG, completed the final stages of an expansion project and plant relocation in August. The new facility is about 55,000 square feet, nearly tripling the amount of space Newsweb previously occupied.
Nies/Artcraft Companies, owned by Consolidated Graphics, has named Amy Johnson vice president of fulfillment operations. She will be responsible for inventory management, order fulfillment and kit assembly. Also, the St. Louis-based company has hired Kelly Robinson as a sales account executive.
PrintingForLess.com is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. This summer, the company moved from its original headquarters in an old dairy building that was packed to capacity with equipment and personnel, to a 46,000-square-foot, custom-designed facility. The online printer is the largest private employer in Livingston, MT.
Cadmus Communications, Richmond, VA, announced the addition of Lori Barber as sales director for Cadmus’ Publisher Services Group. Barber will serve the scholarly and professional publishing communities, representing Cadmus’ suite of content, editorial, and printing services provided by its U.S. and India-based operations. The company also hired Graham Lawley as senior director, Europe, for Cadmus’ Publisher Services Group.

Toronto’s Transcontinental Inc. has won a DMA International ECHO Award for excellence in direct marketing. Transcontinental’s tri-dimensional direct mail campaign, which produced a 74 percent response rate, was named a winner by a panel of more than 200 international judges.
Sandy Alexander Inc. has been named the Clean Power Purchaser of the Year by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. The award is presented annually to the company or organization that best demonstrates leadership and advances the market for renewable clean power. Based in Clifton, NJ, Sandy Alexander relies on clean, wind-generated electricity to fulfill 100 percent of its electrical needs for both its Clifton and St. Petersburg, FL, facilities.
