Printers Push Productivity Boundaries With HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD
PALO ALTO, Calif. — October 3, 2016 — Leading worldwide print service providers (PSPs), including Sheridan, King Printing, Maqprint and Lasertryk, purchased the HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD to address a wider range of publishing applications, such as customized magazines, journals and books. Leveraging the press’s step-function quality and productivity enhancements enabled by High Definition Nozzle Architecture (HDNA) technology, these customers will be able achieve industry quality standards and provide digital printing to a broader spectrum of customers more cost effectively and with quicker turnarounds.
Early HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD adopter Sheridan, a leading print and publishing services provider of books and scholarly journals, helped refine the technology during the beta testing stage at its Hanover, Pa., location. Sheridan has now purchased the T240 HD, making its press the first in successful production, also in-line with HP’s 22˝ duplex priming solution for more substrate versatility. Incorporating the new T240 HD press with its existing HP PageWide Web Press T360 and an assortment of HP Indigo presses, Sheridan is able to produce ultra-short runs of books and journals more efficiently and with offset-like quality.
“Prior to testing the HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD, certain jobs were not accessible from a quality perspective or they weren’t economical to produce,” explains Paul Loy, VP, operations, Sheridan. “The HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD offers increased production flexibility compared to traditional offset and toner-based platforms, from eliminating makeready to just-in-time delivery, and with the HDNA technology, our quality and performance is even better than before, allowing us to exceed the high-quality journal and book requirements of our publisher clients.”
Founded in 1978, Massachusetts-based King Printing will be the first North American customer to install the new HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD after its commercial availability on Nov. 1. As an early adopter of inkjet, the company is adding the T240 HD to its fleet of HP PageWide Web Presses to streamline workflows and enable cost-effective short runs of books. Serving some of the most discerning publishers in the industry amplified its need for the HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD, which was acknowledged as acceptable and offset-interchangeable technology by Scientific, Technical and Medical (STM) journal publishers. Upon seeing HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD print samples for the first time, one of King Printing’s most demanding publishing customers was immediately convinced that the HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD was a viable solution to produce new high-value, high-quality specialty products that were previously not addressable.
"At King Printing, we are constantly implementing new technology that will allow our customers to innovate and improve their finished products,” comments Adi Chinai, president, King Printing. "The HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD scalable upgrade will open up new substrate possibilities for our customers, while allowing us to expand into new markets within our existing segment and protect our investments over time despite changing market conditions.”
Installing the HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD is a scalable upgrade for existing HP PageWide Web Press T200 series customers, like King Printing, versus a 'forklift upgrade' which allows them to continue to grow year over year without removing their press from the production floor. Because of this, PSPs can always have best-in-class technology without any downtime or loss in productivity.
France-based Maqprint will be the first printer in Europe to install an HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD. Alongside its existing HP PageWide Web Press, the new machine will help Maqprint produce customer requests faster and more efficiently. Danish print provider Lasertryk is also adopting the HP PageWide Web Press T240 HD, further establishing its rapport with customers as well as broadening its capabilities to address customer needs not being reached by its current technology.
These customers as well as other HP PageWide Web Press customers are providing offset-substitutable image quality and even more application possibilities, while establishing the HP PageWide Web Press portfolio as the new industry standard for inkjet printing.
