Printing Executives to be Inducted into PI/RIT Hall of Fame
MICHAEL SIMON is executive vice president and co-owner for Publishers Press. He is the custodian, along with his brother, Nick, of the fifth-generation family owned Publishers Press of Shepherdsville, KY. The company, now a projected $160 million printer, debuted in 1866 under the guidance of Simon's great-great grandfather, Nicholas. Simon takes a lot of pride in the distinction of Publishers Press being a true computer-to-plate pioneer, as the first publication printer to embark on computer-to-plate technology. He also feels the company's policy of breaking down sales and service into separate entities is an important element that distinguishes Publishers Press from the competition. Through it all, the proud lineage of Publishers Press is a stewardship Simon takes seriously, along with the obligation to build upon the tradition his elders have established. Simon and his wife, Debbie, are the parents of three children: Michael Jr., 11; Jackson, 9; and Carolyn, 6.
