FALL CREEK, WI—Mail Source, a provider of integrated direct mail solutions, has added a Domino dual-head, drop-on-demand (DoD) imaging system to complement its existing capacity. This additional line can duplex personalize plastic cards at extremely high speeds using UV cured ink.
The 20 year-old western Wisconsin company continues to invest millions of dollars in technology to attract high-volume business—without a sales staff (although it employs 100).
For Mini Folds, the Smaller the Better
NEW BRITAIN, CT—Connecticut Valley Bindery recently purchased a two-station Vijuk G&K V-14 SAF miniature folder with HHS hot glue system from Vijuk Equipment.
“We are excited to announce the addition of miniature folding to our vast finishing capabilities,” says Kevin Hubert, sales manager, shown here with the new folder. “The demand for miniature size brochures has grown over the years.”
To further enhance its miniature folding capabilities, the bindery added the HHS system with two application heads, allowing it to produce fugitive and permanent glue spine-glued brochures, as well as spot closure of direct mail or signatures.

PHOENIX—A 20-unit Goss Magnum 4 press—configured as four four-high towers, two two-high towers and two folders—has been acquired by Valley Newspapers’ Deer Valley facility here.

OSCEOLA—A new one-color Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 52 is in operation at American Greetings.
CALIFORNIA
CITY OF INDUSTRY—An eight-color, 56˝ Mitsubishi Diamond 6000XL press equipped with in-line aqueous and UV coating capabilities was installed at Orange County Container Group.
LOS ANGELES—A new four-color Mitsubishi Diamond 3000 sheetfed press with aqueous coater has been added at Digital Room Inc. to expand capabilities for its online operation, U-Printing Network.
COLORADO
COLORADO SPRINGS—Company officials report that employees at LT Litho are thrilled seeing the quality product coming from their new five-color Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74 press with coater.
CONNECTICUT
EAST HAVEN—ABC Printing & Mailing has purchased a Kodak Lotem 400 platesetter with Prinergy Evo workflow and Kodak PREPS imposition software.
FLORIDA
HOLLYWOOD—To better service its clientele—which includes Ford Motor Co., Macy’s, Kay Jewelers and Dominos Pizza—St Ives U.S. has standardized on using EFI Hagen Prograph software at its two printing facilities.
MIAMI—A new Heidelberg Suprasetter A52 platesetter and Stahlfolder USA B 20 folder have been added at Sergio’s Printing.
KANSAS
SHAWNEE—Prepress Graphic Professionals has acquired a Xerox iGen3 110 digital production press, sold by Fujifilm Graphic Systems.
WICHITA—McCormick-Armstrong installed a new five-unit Goss M-600 web press equipped with Goss Contiweb CS splicer, Ecocool dryer, Autoplate plate changing technology and an automated JF-55 combination folder.
MARYLAND
BALTIMORE—Customers can now manage, track, proof, edit and approve their work 24/7 from any location with Victor Graphics’ new Kodak InSite prepress workflow solution.
MASSACHUSETTS
LOWELL—With the installation of its new Screen Truepress Jet520 full-color variable printing system, King Printing is reportedly the first national book manufacturer to use the Screen press to print finished book blocks in an automated production line.
NORTH ANDOVER—Flagship Press has also purchased a Screen Truepress Jet520 ink-jet system.
PITTSFIELD—A second Komori press, this one a new six-color Lithrone S40 (LS640), is now up and running at Quality Printing.
MICHIGAN
MIDLAND—McKay Press is celebrating its centennial this year, having transformed itself from a newspaper in the early 1900s, to a commercial print shop in the late 1920s, to becoming part of the Consolidated Graphics network of companies in 1998.
TROY—All-digital shop MJA Graphics made its first foray into offset printing with the purchase of a new two-color Printmaster QM 46 from Heidelberg.
MINNESOTA
MINNEAPOLIS—Three Advantage CLS computer-to-plate units, from Agfa Graphics, as well as Agfa’s Arkitex software, have been installed at the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
MONTANA
KALISPELL—The population of this small town has nearly doubled in recent years, and American Printing is expanding its capabilities to keep pace with that growth. It recently invested in a new five-color Heidelberg Printmaster PM 52.

LAS VEGAS—National Print Group has added an Inca Spyder 320 VOW (violet, orange, white) flatbed wide-format printer to its facility here.
NEW HAMPSHIRE
MANCHESTER—A new HP Indigo 5500 digital press has been installed at Printers Square to offer variable data printing and 1:1 marketing solutions.
NEW JERSEY
CARLSTADT—Pictorial Offset announced that it has integrated Metal- FX inks into its operation. Using the silver-base ink allows metallic colors to be printed using traditional CMYK values.
CLIFTON—Large-format printer Register Litho has added a new six-color, 81˝ KBA Rapida 205 press equipped with in-line UV coating and dryers, as well as an extended delivery.

NEW YORK—A few months after successfully installing a new HP Indigo 5000, bsquared design & printing ordered another Indigo: a 5500 model.
ROCHESTER—Garbin Graphics & Print, a trade printer with an online store for quick turnaround on short-run color envelopes and stationery, opened a new manufacturing plant here.
OHIO
CLEVELAND—Great Lakes Integrated (GLI) has received Mailing and Fulfillment Service Association (MFSA) national accreditation and is reportedly the only commercial printer in the nation to receive the award.
OREGON
PORTLAND—A new 10-color, 41˝ KBA Rapida 105 long perfector with double coaters, as well as conventional and UV capabilities, has been purchased by Irwin-Hodson.
SALEM—Eagle Web Press added a Prime UV curing system to its new QuadStack press from Web Press Corp.
PENNSYLVANIA
READING—An additional manufacturing facility has been purchased by Offset Impressions, which has expanded its total production space to 78,000 square feet. The “new” facility is adjacent to the printer’s existing property on Mountainview Road.
SCRANTON—Celebrating its 100th anniversary, fourth-generation family owned Scranton Printing has purchased a new six-color, 40˝ Komori Lithrone press with aqueous coater.
SOUTH DAKOTA
RAPID CITY—A new six-color Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 74 perfector with aqueous coater was installed at Creative Printers.
TENNESSEE
MURFREESBORO—In less than three months after its installation, Wax Family Printing has produced more than one million impressions on its new two-color Printmaster QM 46 press.
TEXAS
SAN ANGELO—Printing and Design purchased a new Prosetter P52 and Prinect software, both from Heidelberg.
VERMONT
