To help solidify branding and enhance name recognition, the Goodway Group of Companies, headquartered in Philadelphia, announced that its Massachusetts plant has changed its name from Goodway Graphics to Goodway Group of Massachusetts. Their sister facility near Washington, DC, has changed to Goodway Group of Virginia. In other company news, both the Massachusetts and Virginia plants are now FSC certified.
The Print Council announced that GLS Companies, Brooklyn Park, MN; The Hickory Printing Group, Hickory, NC; Jet Inc., Downers Grove, IL; and Lake County Press, Waukegan, IL, have joined the organization. As new members, the companies will work in concert with other member companies of The Print Council on initiatives to help develop, maintain and expand the market for printed materials.
Steve Hayes, CEO of Omaha, NE-based Omaha Print, was named Nebraska Distinguished Printer of the Year by the Printing Industries of the Midlands (PIM). Hayes was presented with his award at the Heartland Print Gallery banquet and awards event.
Signs Now, a division of Allegra Network, has named Kristin Trevino and Travis Masters as its newest members of the company’s Franchise Advisory Board (FAB). Trevino now represents the Northwest region, and Masters represents the Southeast region. Both members will serve on the FAB until 2011. The FAB is comprised of seven elected franchisee representatives and three appointed representatives from Signs Now headquarters.
Two additions have been made to the business development team at Tabs Direct, a Houston-based direct mail production company that’s part of the Omnicom Group. Larry Cook has joined as senior vice president to lead the company’s business development and marketing functions. Troy Bullock has been hired as vice president of business development.
Menomonee Falls, WI-based Arandell Corp. has announced the arrival of David Kane as vice president of information systems. Kane previously served as a management consultant with the Whitelight Group.
Phoenix Marketing Services has promoted John Collette to account executive, where he is now responsible for managing sales for the company’s Creative Design division. Collette first joined the Claremont, CA-based firm in 2003 as a prepress operator.
Baltimore-based Vertis Communications has tapped Charles Miotke, a 30-year industry vet, as president of direct marketing. Miotke comes to Vertis from Quebecor World where he held several senior leadership roles. He is now responsible for accelerating growth and improving productivity, quality and customer service at Vertis.
Jim Golden, who has worked in Orange County reprographics sales and service for 30 years, has rejoined Costa Mesa, CA-based Consolidated Reprographics as the company’s new territory manager for the Irvine, CA, area.
Public Printer Robert C. Tapella has appointed Herbert Jackson Jr. Chief Acquisition Officer for the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO). Jackson now directs the planning and management of GPO’s acquisition program, which includes multi-million dollar federal acquisition and procurement initiatives of technical and information systems. Jackson has been a GPO employee for 27 years, holding numerous positions in the acquisition area.
The new director of Web and media at Southeastern Printing, Stuart, FL, is Sheila Laughlin. She is now responsible for implementing Web design, cross-media marketing, PURLs, e-commerce, 1-to-1 marketing and response management.
John Roudebush has joined Valmeyer, IL-based MAR Graphics as an outside sales representative. MAR is a trade-only printing company offering direct mail, business forms, integrated documents, labels, digital printing and mailing services.
Two new customer service representatives have been hired at Cary Printing in Cary, NC. Michelle Laffler and Randy Simpson are now responsible for order processing and project management, interacting with account executives and nurturing client relationships.
Mobile Print, a full-service, small-format commercial printer based in Mount Prospect, IL, has named Raymond Mueller as its new outside sales representative. Also, Vincent Franchi has joined as the company’s lead printing press operator.
John Michael has joined Impressions Inc., a privately held, St. Paul, MN-based specialty printing and packaging company, as a sales representative. Michael is now responsible for commercial and packaging accounts.
Dayton-OH-based WorkflowOne has tapped Tom Rizzi as vice president of strategic sales. In this newly created position, Rizzi is responsible for leading a sales channel focused on targeted vertical markets and large account opportunities. Rizzi previously served WorkflowOne as vice president of sales for its Southwest Division.
Robert Kish has joined Marketplace Direct, Pittsburgh, as its new quality assurance manager. Kish is now responsible for managing, monitoring and advising on how the quality management system is performing and will publish data and reports regarding company performance against set indicators.
Carlstadt, NJ-based Pictorial Offset has tapped Grace Elkins as its new account executive. A printing industry veteran for more than 17 years, Elkins formerly held positions at Anderson Lithograph and Earth Thebault. Based in Detroit, Elkins is now responsible for representing the company in the Michigan and Midwestern marketplaces.
The Graphic Arts Association announced that James Moore, lead pressman at Joseph H. Tees & Son Printing in Bensalem, PA, has been named the 2008 Neographics “Pressperson of the Year.” The award will be presented May 1 to Moore at the Neographics dinner and awards ceremony in Philadelphia.
Evansville, IN-based Keller Crescent, part of the Clondalkin Group, has appointed Bill Mitchell as CEO of its printing/packaging operations. He succeeds Thomas M. Smythe, who is retiring after more than 50 years. Mitchell previously served as president of Cardinal Health Packaging Services.
Dallas Offset, a non-heatset web printer based in Dallas, has appointed Darin Wilson as its director of sales. A printing industry veteran for more than 20 years, Wilson formerly served at the National Print Group.
Think Patented, Dayton, OH, has appointed two industry leaders, Shahriar Ghoddousi and Jim Hyder, to its board of directors. Ghoddousi currently serves as president/CEO of The John Henry Co., headquartered in Lansing, MI. Hyder is the former president/CEO of Fetter Printing in Louisville, KY, and a former chairman of NAPL.
