Five-Color Press Expands Business
SUN VALLEY, CA—ColorFX Inc., a full-service trade printer, has purchased a five-color, 40˝ Komori Lithrone S40 with coater. The company also recently added an online ordering system to accept work from clients all across the country.
One DI Press Not Enough
DORAL, FL—City Colors, a trade printer based here, was so successful with its first Presstek 52DI digital offset press after 30 days on the floor, its management decided to purchase and install a second one. City Colors’ DI operation primarily produces gang runs of business cards and postcards for other printers.
CALIFORNIA
OXNARD—Ventura Printing, which recently acquired the Business Mailing Center, has added a five-color, 40˝ Mitsubishi Diamond 3000S equipped with aqueous coater and extended delivery.
FLORIDA
AUBURNDALE—M&M Printing & Graphics purchased a Printmaster 46 press and a Polar 78X cutter, both from Heidelberg.
GEORGIA
SAVANNAH—A third Heidelberg Printmaster QM 46, specifically designed for small-format offset printing, was recently installed at Spanish Moss Printing.
IDAHO
IDAHO FALLS—The Post Co. purchased a Kodak Trendsetter News 70 platesetter to turn out The Post Register daily and three weekly newspapers.
ILLINOIS
ADDISON—ASI Mailing and Fulfillment has recently added a 600 dpi, full-color Konica Minolta 3232 laser personalization printer that allows for color signatures on personalized mail.
JACKSONVILLE—Two new Kluge products were installed at Production Press. A Kluge UniFold automatic folder/gluer was configured with the company’s patented vertical bucklefolder, TransTable III and a two-head hot melt system. A new Kluge EHF Series press will provide foil stamping, embossing and diecutting.
INDIANA
COLUMBUS—Home News Enterprises purchased a second Kodak Trendsetter News platesetter. This location also uses the NewsManager workflow system and Staccato screening. A second Trendsetter was installed at its Greenfield location, which prints the Greenfield Daily Reporter.
MARYLAND
FREDERICK—Increased demand for indoor/outdoor vinyl banners, canvas, window and vehicle graphics has spurred the Imagination Center to acquire a new 64˝ HP9000s solvent printer.
MINNESOTA
ST. PAUL—Ideal Printers recently expanded its operations by adding a Xerox DocuColor 6060 digital press to provide high quality, short-run capabilities for its clients.
NEW JERSEY
BURLINGTON—A new Xerox DocuPrint 180 MX enterprise printing and highlight color system and a Konica Minolta bizhub 1050e digital imaging sytem have enhanced the digital printing capabilities at Barton & Cooney.
NEW YORK
ROCHESTER—A new HP Indigo press w3250 was recently installed at Mercury Print Productions to produce textbooks, teacher’s editions, workbooks and other materials for leading educational publishers.
NORTH CAROLINA
RALEIGH—Customer expectations are being exceeded at Triangle Communications Group with the installation of its new Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74 with perfector and coater, automated makeready, Preset feeder, AirTransfer system and easy-to-control sheet travel.
WINSTON-SALEM—Oracle Packaging gave itself a new house warming gift when it expanded its operations here in November. The company installed a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105-8+LX press with Image Control to handle its paperboard packaging work.
OREGON
PORTLAND—Bridgetown Printing is relocating to a new 48,000-square-foot facility and is installing two new six-color Komori presses and is adding binding, mailing and fulfillment services. The company also recently achieved FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) chain-of-custody certification.
PENNSYLVANIA
MORGANTOWN—Tursack Printing, a Consolidated Graphics company, is the new owner of North America’s first MAN Roland 700 press featuring InlineCoater Smart technology. The 10-color perfector features an advanced convertible coating unit that facilitates printing or coating on both sides of the sheet in a single pass.
SOUTH CAROLINA
ANDERSON—A second Kodak Trendsetter News 100 platesetter was purchased by Independent Publishing to expand its printing capabilities, which include publishing newspapers like the Anderson Independent-Mail.
TEXAS
WICHITA FALLS—Scripps Texas Newspapers has purchased a Trendsetter News 70 CTP device to print the Wichita Falls Times Record News and other products.
WISCONSIN
BROOKFIELD—After nine years of helping to manage Heritage Printing, Robert Wendt and Greg Mierow decided to buy the business. Heritage will continue to operate in its present location, providing product literature, marketing collateral, direct mail, digital printing, and personalized/variable printing and mailing services.
HARTLAND—One of the Midwest’s largest electronic print shops, Commercial Communications Inc., has installed a new Océ VarioPrint 6250 digital duplex printer to enhance its capabilities in printing directories, service manuals and training guides.
