Kevin Joyce—Eastman Kodak’s managing director of the Graphic Communications Group (GCG) for the United States and Canada (US&C)—has been named a company vice president and chief marketing officer of the GCG. David Wigfield, who was the managing director of GCG’s business in the United Kingdom, has been tapped to fill Joyce’s former position.
Elinor Midlik, president of Prime UV Systems, received the 2007 Harold W. Gegenheimer Award for industry service by an individual. Midlik was honored because of her active involvement on the association’s Show Policy, Strategic Planning, and Programs and Meetings committees.
The new vice president and general manager of xpedx Printing Technologies/Ryobi is John Torrey, who now oversees all aspects of business strategy including operations, sales and marketing. Torrey, a 25-year industry veteran, previously served as general manager of the xpedx Northern California Division.
Mark Milbourn, a 15-year industry veteran, is the new district sales manager at Komori America. Before joining Komori, he co-founded The Milbourn Pressworks Co. In his new role, Milbourn is responsible for the territory encompassing: Cleveland; Detroit; Toledo, OH; Columbus, OH; Charleston, SC; Pittsburgh; and Erie, PA.
IMC America has announced an agreement to sell Oxytech UV curing systems to the web market. Oxytech, a manufacturer with installations at leading printers such as RR Donnelley and Quad/Graphics, also produces infrared and other drying systems in addition to UV technology.
Michael Ring has been appointed chief marketing officer and vice president of business development at Punch Graphix Americas. He is now responsible for overall marketing and increasing sales of the company’s Xeikon digital color printing solutions in North America.
Mailing industry and postal issues expert Chris Lien has been appointed executive vice president of BCC Software, a Böwe Bell + Howell company. Lien will offer perspective and guidance with regard to the ongoing development of Mail Manager 2010 presorting and list management software, address-enhancing BCC Data Services, and other BCC products and offerings.
Tom Cernera, a 30-year industry veteran, has rejoined Brandtjen & Kluge as the company’s North American sales manager. Cernera plans on dividing his time between Kluge headquarters in St. Croix Falls, WI, and direct market interaction with the field sales team.
Rudi Lenz, Sun Chemical’s senior vice president, CFO and board member, has been appointed as the company’s new CEO and president. He replaces Dr. David Hill, who has retired. Susan Guerin has been hired as senior vice president and CFO.
Goss International has announced its association with the West Virginia University Institute of Technology and has donated printing equipment to the school’s new Publishing Innovation Center. Among the donations were laboratory equipment—including apparatus to help with ink—dampening solution, paper and engineering analysis. Goss will also hold training seminars at the center, as well as provide lecturers and curriculum support.
NPES, The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies, recently elected new officers. Henry “Hank” Brandtjen III, Brandtjen & Kluge, was elected as chairman. Joining the board of directors are Vincent Lapinski, MAN Roland; Stephen Metcalf, Air Motion Systems; Karl Puehringer, Baldwin Technology; and Steven Reny, Standard Finishing Systems. Re-elected officers include: director and newly elected treasurer, James Martin, Heidelberg USA; president, Ralph Nappi, NPES; vice president, William Smythe Jr., NPES; and secretary, Mark Nuzzaco, NPES. Other re-elected directors are Bruce Goodwin, Glunz & Jensen; Jochen Meissner, Goss International; Ulrik Nygaard, Baumfolder Corp.; and John St. John, Systems Technology.
Van Son Holland Ink has hired Michael Bontempo as a commercial technical field specialist. He is now responsible for on-press ink evaluation solutions, offering technical and sales support to dealers, and providing consultative support for on-site implementation of industry standards.
York Flounlacker has been tapped as MAN Roland’s new commercial web regional sales manager responsible for the Northeast region. Flounlacker previously served as senior account executive with Eastman Kodak, CGC, Ink-Jet Printing Solutions.
Terry Shelton, NELA’s special projects engineer, has been tapped as the company’s new regional sales manager responsible for the Eastern U.S. region (newspaper section). He replaces Spencer Richardson, who has retired.
Heidelberg is extending its worldwide operations in consumables by grouping all of its own consumables under the Saphira brand name. Saphira products meet all industry standards concerning environmental protection.
John Scillieri—who joined Woodward Jogger Aerators’ sales department in 2003—has been promoted to national sales manager reporting to Lou Cannizzaro, vice president of sales.
At Mohawk Fine Papers, Jack Haren has been promoted to president and CFO. Haren was instrumental in the company’s acquisition of International Paper’s Fine Paper Division in 2005. Also, Claudine Schneider, president of the Solar Alliance, has been appointed to the company’s board. She served in the U.S. Congress from 1980-1990.
The Print Council announced that Pitney Bowes has joined the organization. The council was originally established to help develop, maintain and expand the market for printed materials.
HubCast Inc. announced three new members. Don Seitz has joined the company as executive vice president of sales, responsible for global business activities. Brent Moncrief has been named vice president of business development, responsible for covering the central United States and connecting printing operations to HubCast. Fred Lovine has been tapped as engineering manager.
Prism North America has added a new member to its staff of MIS implementation and support specialists in North America. Todd Barrineau has been tapped as implementer and project manager based in the Charlotte, NC, area. Prior to joining Prism, Barrineau served 10 years with Creo, holding several key positions.
To support literacy, Muller Martini joined with the Book Manufacturers’ Institute (BMI) to donate money to Literacy Suffolk—an organization serving Suffolk County, NY, that works to improve individual literacy skills through the use of trained volunteers and by expanding community awareness. Muller Martini contributed $2,000 and BMI matched that amount.
Brad Toman has joined Independent Graphic Services as CFO. Toman brings 13 years of accounting and 10 years of purchasing experience to his new position. PI
