Printers Attend Lenticular Seminar
Williston, VT—KBA North America recently offered a comprehensive five-day seminar on lenticular printing. The professional development seminar, held at KBA’s headquarters here, brought together KBA’s lenticular, printing and marketing experts with owners and press operators of the KBA Genius 52 UV press. Lenticular printing is a special technique that involves printing an image on the back side of lenticular plastic, allowing the eye to simultaneously view alternating sections of multiple images to give the impression of 3-D, flip, or motion. KBA reports it is planning several repeat seminars this year.
Graphic Systems Group in New York City announced the appointment of Eric Hegdahl to the position of marketing technology officer.
Impressions Inc. has completed the construction of a 35,000-square-foot expansion to its St. Paul, MN, facility. The new addition will be used for mostly in-house sheeting and warehousing.With the newly added square footage, the headquarters will have more than 85,000 square feet of production/warehousing space. In other news, Bruce Warkentien has been hired as the new director of procurement.
Commercial Communications Inc. (CCI), Hartland, WI, has appointed Perry Thiemer as business systems national account manager. Prior to joining CCI, Thiemer spent 26 years with Rockwell Automation.
The Print Council, a national business development initiative created to help promote greater use of printing and print media, announced that IAPHC Inc., The Graphic Professionals Resource Network (formerly the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen), has become an associate member.
In Elmira, NY, Michelle Crane was promoted to vice president of office operations at Image Now. Several departments including customer service, plant scheduling, quality assurance and IT now report directly to Crane.
I. Gregg Van Wert has been named to the board of directors of The EPI Companies, Marietta, GA. Van Wert’s printing industry experience was largely gained over a 30-year career with the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL), where he served as president from 1991 until his retirement in 2003.
Direct Group, a provider of direct marketing services in Pennington, NJ, announced that Wayne Oliver has joined the company in the newly created position of vice president, engineering and quality. Oliver will provide guidance and input on workflow and productivity across the direct mail, fulfillment and print-on-demand areas of the business.
Capps Digital, a Chicago-based print premedia resource and part of Publicis Groupe, recently added Richard Menconi to an account manager position within its business development team.
J. Anthony (Tony) Petrelli has joined CardPak Inc., Solon, OH, as president and COO. Petrelli brings to CardPak more than 25 years of packaging industry experience.
Dean Hanisko has been promoted from chief technology officer to vice president, corporate business development, at Great Lakes Integrated (GLI) in Cleveland. He also has been inducted into the Graphic Arts Council of Cleveland’s Hall of Distinction.
The Print Council, a national business development initiative dedicated to promoting the greater use of printing and print media, announced that the Jacob North Companies, Lincoln, NE, and The John Roberts Co., Minneapolis, have joined the organization. As new members of the Council, these printers will be working with other companies to increase the market for printed materials.
Joseph Doskocil has been named director of new horizons for Alcom in Harleysville, PA. He brings more than 30 years of experience to the web and sheetfed printing operation.
Shelly Yarmovsky has joined Next Generation Printing (Nextegen), Canton, MA, as director of marketing and business development. He has been charged with driving the marketing and sales efforts to build Nextegen’s digital printing business into a national market leader.
Fry Communications of Mechanicsburg, PA, recently announced two top management promotions. Michael Lukas has been named COO. He joined the company 21 years ago and was formerly the assistant to the president. Lukas will oversee all operational functions of the company, as well as the Emigsville, PA, manufacturing facility. Michael Weber has been named director of manufacturing. Weber, who joined Fry 14 years ago, has held a variety of manufacturing posts in the company, most recently as plant manager of Building 4.
In Dayton, OH, WorkflowOne reports that Jerry Doubler has been named divisional vice president and CFO. Most recently, Doubler was vice president and general manager of print-on-demand services for Standard Register, also based in Dayton.
East Coast Media, Hillsborough, NJ, has hired Joseph Hotchkiss-Camolli as an account manager covering central New Jersey. Also, Danielle Chrissakis has been named lead project coordinator, overseeing pharmaceutical and corporate meetings and projects.
In Milwaukee, Openfirst, a Quad/Graphics company providing one-to-one marketing communications and fulfillment, has hired Jim Nash as vice president of business development. Also, Richard Nielsen has been named plant manager of the firm’s Fredericksburg, VA, facility. Nielsen reports directly to Don Terkel, vice president of manufacturing.
