Goss Recognized For Global Resources Management
BOSTON—At its Manufacturing in the 21st Century Summit held here recently, The Aberdeen Group presented the Performance Excellence Award to Goss International. The award recognizes Goss for excellence in managing global resources to meet complex, engineer-to-order (ETO) manufacturing requirements—citing its manufacturing operations, supply chain management and information technology support that contribute to exceptional product performance.
Böwe Bell + Howell has entered into an agreement in principle to acquire OPEX Corp.’s Postal Technologies division, which includes a line of mail sorters and software products. The company will also assume all of OPEX Postal Technologies’ maintenance and licensing agreements.
Jeffrey Sink has joined SMART Papers as senior vice president and CFO. Sink, who previously served as senior vice president and CFO of Creative Press, is now responsible for the entire financial organization at SMART Papers.
Jeff Skolnik has been named the new Southern regional sales manager at Screen (USA). Based out of Sanger, TX, Skolnik is now responsible for sales of Screen digital printing equipment, computer-to-plate evices and prepress workflow solutions in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
GPA has relocated its Western operations to a larger facility in Santa Fe Springs, CA, in response to the demand for specialty substrates used by offset and digital printers. The move reportedly doubles the firm’s SoCal footprint.
Buhrs Americas has named two service engineers: Kevin Taylor and Tony Le. With their electromechanical and software experience, both Taylor and Le support the company’s expanding customer base of mailing and fulfillment solutions.
Markzware, a developer of preflighting, data extraction and conversion software, announced that Enfocus/Artwork has entered into a settlement agreement for its part in a patent infringement lawsuit filed in the Central District of California in May of 2007. The agreement resolves all pending litigation between the companies.
LithoTechnics Pty., the developer of Metrix workflow integration and automation software, has signed a distribution agreement with Prism Group Holdings, a provider of management information systems and productivity tools to the printing industry. Under the agreement, Prism will sell and support the entire Metrix product line worldwide to complement its MIS offerings.
Ann Moscicki has been tapped as the new senior manager of public relations for Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group (GCG). Moscicki is responsible for overseeing all U.S. and Canadian public relations activities, as well as offering support to GCG’s worldwide public relations programs.
William Longua has been promoted to director of product marketing at RENA Systems. Longua, who has been with the company for 12 years, previously served as manager of marketing services.
Action Envelope has launched the fourth generation of its Website at www.ActionEnvelope.com. The new site incorporates Web 2.0 technology, precise product photography and simple navigation to help users find, select and buy envelopes that are either printed or plain. A “Made-to-Order” feature also allows customers to create one-of-a-kind envelopes.
David Mason and Bruce Beiderman have been promoted to regional sales managers at Standard Finishing Systems. Mason is now responsible for sales in the Midwestern region of the United States, and Beiderman is responsible for the Central region.
xpedx has renewed its agreement with Ryobi Graphic Systems of Japan to serve as the exclusive distributor and marketer of Ryobi-branded offset printing equipment in the United States. The agreement extends the three-decade relationship between the companies. PI
