Japs-Olson Installs Landmark Kodak Inkjet Press
ST. LOUIS PARK, MN—Japs-Olson Co. has installed the first Kodak Prosper 6000C full-color inkjet press. Ideally suited for commercial print applications requiring high-ink laydowns, the Prosper 6000C press is part of a new Prosper press lineup that promises print speed and application flexibility. The Prosper 6000C press is ideal for data-driven print applications, such as direct mail and transactional printing.
The installation is part of beta testing already in operation, conducted by Kodak and Japs-Olson to push the new press to its performance limits and tap the potential offered by the press’ innovations in transport, drying, writing systems and press management technology.
“The only way to ensure long-term success in the printing industry is to provide the greatest quality to customers while being laser focused on productivity and efficiency,” said Michael Murphy, president of Japs-Olson. “As we have become familiar with Prosper 6000C press, we are certain that the future of printing will be tied to this leading innovative product family. The early indications of its production capability and stunning quality are a testament to what the next generation of digital printing can do today.”
The Prosper 6000C press prints at speeds of up to 1,000 feet, or 300 meters, per minute on matted and uncoated papers with a duty cycle of 90 million A4 top quality pages per month. An enhanced drying capability allows heavy-weight glossy and silk stock to be printed at 650 feet, or 200 meters, per minute. Additionally, the press provides long inkjet head life, high operational uptime, and fast job setup and makeready time.
The Prosper 6000C press will be available this summer. The Kodak Prosper 6000P will be available in the fall.
