Vance-Cooks points out that while the name of the 152-year-old agency is steeped in tradition, it doesn't communicate the full extent of GPO's capabilities to its client base. The GPO publishes digital information, e-books and mobile applications in addition to its traditional printing.
She broached the subject with Sen. Amy Klobucher (D-MN) prior to the June 12 nomination hearing before the Senate Rules and Administration Committee. The name change to Government Publishing Office has not been introduced in bill form, but Vance-Cooks and Sen. Klobucher plan to work on the change, Government Executive reported.
