Quad Closing Plants in Virginia, Oklahoma
SUSSEX, WI—Quad/Graphics Inc. will cease production at its Richmond, VA, and Stillwater, OK, facilities as part of its ongoing plan to integrate operations following the company’s acquisition of Worldcolor. A total of 365 employees combined will be impacted by the closures.
Joel Quadracci, Quad/Graphics chairman, president and CEO, said the move was another step in the company’s two-year integration process, which is designed to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of its manufacturing platform.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to take the necessary actions that will move our business forward, create value for our clients and shareholders, and build long-term stability and success for our employees,” Quadracci said.
The Richmond plant encompasses approximately 225,000 square feet and currently employs approximately 125 people. It will run at full production until it closes in December 2011.
Approximately 240 people worked at the nearly 350,000-square-foot Stillwater facility. It will begin stepping down operations in December 2011 and cease production in May 2012.
Customer work at both plants will be consolidated into other Quad/Graphics facilities.
The company will assist impacted employees in finding new jobs, including those available at other Quad/Graphics locations.
