Quad/Graphics to Close St. Cloud, MN, Printing Operation This Summer
ST CLOUD, MN—June 18, 2014—Quad/Graphics Inc. is closing its 280-employee printing operation on Mayhew Lake Road here at the end of the summer. The closure of this former World Color facility comes in the wake of Quad/Graphics' acquisition of Brown Printing, reported the St. Cloud Times.
Claire Ho, director of corporate communications for Quad/Graphics, told the newspaper that the last day of production will be in late August and noted that full-time employees will be eligible for separation packages.
"We are moving forward quickly with integration plans following our recent acquisition of Brown Printing Company," the Times quoted Ho as saying. "The exact date will be determined once we confirm with all clients when and where their work will be moved. We will begin transitioning work from the facility as soon as practical."
On finding available positions for St. Cloud employees, Ho told the paper: "We are helping employees understand job opportunities available at other Quad/Graphics plants. We have a wide variety of positions available at our other facilities. We will help anyone interested in transferring apply for those opportunities. Hiring managers will be in the plant (Thursday) and Friday to discuss those opportunities. We would like to capitalize on the talent available in the St. Cloud facility."
