ROSEMONT, Ill. —September 14, 2016 — Quality Tape & Label Co. (QTL), a family-owned labels and packaging converting company in business for nearly 40 years, purchased the HP Indigo 20000 digital press on the show floor at Labelexpo Americas 2016. The company will use the press to produce supplements, chemical, food and household product labels and shrink sleeves more efficiently and expand its flexible packaging offering.
With HP Indigo digital printing technology, QTL has experienced high double-digit growth since 2012 and been able to gain business from multiple Fortune 500 companies. Building on the company’s two upgraded narrow-web HP Indigo WS6800 digital presses in operation today, the HP Indigo 20000 digital press will continue the company’s impressive growth trajectory, offering greater imposition efficiency with a larger format. QTL estimates that the 30" HP Indigo 20000 digital press will save more than 200 hours of print time over six months, freeing capacity on its existing presses and allowing the company to competitively address new business.
"Digital printing enables us to provide our customers added value with unique application possibilities, and we want to extend those capabilities into flexible packaging, while also gaining new efficiencies with a larger format,” notes Rob Daniels, president, Quality Tape & Label Co. "Our narrow-format HP Indigo WS6800 digital presses have enabled our company to grow an average of 30% each year, and we are confident that the HP Indigo 20000, along with support from HP, will help us capture new flexible packaging growth opportunities and be an even better partner for our customers."
QTL will leverage its Chameleon Technology, based on HP SmartStream Mosaic Technology, to produce high-quality, one-of-a-kind labels, shrink sleeves and flexible packaging applications, such as stand up pouches, on its new HP Indigo 20000 digital press. With the press, the company will also be able to produce run lengths of any size and offer its customers more competitive digital solutions. The press will be installed in October following Labelexpo Americas 2016.
