The hybrid business communications company, Racami, announced a definitive agreement to acquire Canon Solutions America, Inc.’s Conveyance platform that automates commercial printing and book manufacturing processes. Racami is rebranding the workflow automation product as Alchem-e Books. The acquisition includes Canon Solutions America’s transfer of ownership of the intellectual property and product support for existing Conveyance customers to Racami.
Racami continues to strengthen its portfolio of process automation, quality control, and Hybrid Communication solutions and is quickly expanding its footprint in book manufacturing. Racami also intends to utilize the special JDF and JMF toolset in the acquired product with its Alchem-e™ CCM/CXM focused platform used by transaction processors and direct marketing companies. “The acquisition demonstrates our commitment to transformation and growth by providing increasing value to our customers,” states Hani Khalaf, President and CTO of Racami. “We welcome our new customers and are excited about the synergy this technology has for our existing customers that use Alchem-e to orchestrate offline and online customer communications.”
Alchem-e Books (Conveyance) performs important tasks for commercial printers, fulfillment companies, and book manufacturers as they prepare orders for efficient physical production. Market forces such as handling more orders but smaller order sizes, expectations for next day delivery, paper shortages, and staffing issues continue to challenge these organizations and drive them towards advanced technology.
Canon Solutions America Production Print Solutions is dedicated to ensuring a “customer-first” strategy and works closely with strategic partners, like Racami, to help customers maximize automation, increase productivity, exceed service level agreement expectations, and have continued opportunity for growth. Canon Solutions America and Racami can leverage their combined strengths to better serve customers through this strategic agreement.
“With Racami’s vast experience in the industries we serve, it makes sense to leverage their automation and integration capabilities which will better support Canon Solutions America’s customers, both now and in the future,” said Ed Jansen, Vice President, Production Print Solutions Marketing, Canon Solutions America.
Under the terms of agreement, Canon Solutions America will continue to sell the product under its Conveyance brand while Racami will sell the product under the Alchem-e brand, with Racami providing product support for customers of both. This agreement makes Alchem-e Books (Conveyance) available to a wider audience of print and communications providers.
