Rapid Color First Commercial Printer in Nevada to Install New Komori Lithrone With H-UV Capabilities
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. - July 11, 2018 - Rapid Color, a Las Vegas-based national commercial printer, has installed a new Komori five-color Lithrone G40 with H-UV (GL540). Offering a full spectrum of high-end commercial print products for the casino market and a host of large household brands, Rapid Color has earned its reputation as an industry leader in the commercial printing market. As the first commercial printer in Nevada to have Komori’s exclusive H-UV capabilities, the company chose Komori’s GL540 with H-UV for its high print quality and reliability, as well as excellent economics and eco-friendly performance. Rapid Color reports that in just five short months, the high-performance of the GL540 with H-UV has increased the company’s speed to market by more than 20 percent, increased revenue by 15 percent and reduced waste by up to 50 percent.
“I have been dreaming of owning a Komori for some time now. Komori presses are simply the Mercedes of presses,” said David Huckabay, owner and president of Rapid Color. “The capabilities of this new press make it possible for us to produce jobs more efficiently, offer even better pricing than before and get more done in a shorter amount of time—all of which is paying off in tangible results. We are very happy.”
‘The new Komori is running like a champ’ is written across Rapid Color’s website, touting the advanced technology that is allowing Rapid Color to produce more work in the same amount of time. Huckabay says the press is running comfortably at 16,000 sheets per hour, supporting the company’s ability to offer products to be printed and shipped within 24 hours. Additionally, with the added H-UV system, sheets can go from the press directly to bindery, significantly improving efficiency and job turnaround times. Komori’s H-UV also operates in the “non-ozone” wavelength of the UV spectrum, making it an eco-friendly alternative and eliminating the need for venting. Using only one bulb in the delivery of the press to cure the sheet also significantly reduces cost over conventional UV.
“Combining the GL540 with Komori’s H-UV system is the perfect storm for a company like Rapid Color that is known for offering a fast turnaround with competitive pricing,” said Mark Milbourn, VP of sales at Komori America. “We are excited that Rapid Color is already enjoying the return on investment the GL540 is sure to deliver.”
